bathtub is a bit too unique; it may be a bit too small for a big person to be in it?

That one can experience “good old days of Japanese traditional farm house.

It’s a really authentic place, with much attention spend on lovely details such as the fireplace which makes the total super cosy. The couple running this minshuku are so so lovely and they made us feel very much at home. They gave us local advice, explained more about life in Japan and became the Japanese grandparents of our baby. Also, we had the most delicious diner and breakfast, all home made. We visited Narai and Magome, which are both lovely villages with nice hiking opportunities, but also Matsumoto, Kamikoche and other nice places are within driving distance. If your looking for a real authentic Japanese experience and something special, look no further!

Loved everything about the place and hosts, but be warned banking/ foreign exchange services for foreigners are almost non-existent in the town (bring cash)

Otaki and Kikko were wonderful hosts, food was excellent, beautiful location (although a bit difficult to get to by train), great site-seeing and nature walks nearby - altogether a fantastic experience. Would highly recommned.

I like the host, the food and the place itself. The house is old but inside there is a balance of old and modern facilities. I love the “makistove, the fireplace where you can just relax. The traditional bath tub was interesting and I think a must-try. The best part was the hosts who were very hospitable and kind. They served me delicious and healthy food while I listen to their stories. The cooking was amazing as they use their garden veggies and almost everything they made themselves. Staying there was a heartwarming experience. I can’t wait to come back here again.

We loved everything. Keep in mind that there are stairs to navigate for those who have mobility issues.

Where to begin?! Our guests were so very kind, treating us like long lost relatives from the moment we arrived. We were interested in gardening, so Tosh, our host, sat for a long time and via Google Translate, we learned all about his home farm. The food was amazing; most everything came from their garden or the small stream nearby. The presentation of the food made it a shame to eat it! This was a very simple accommodation compared to others on our 10-day trip, but it was my favorite by far. The home was very old and had been remodeled to its current condition by the owners when they moved there from Tokyo some years prior. The beds and tatami mats were lovely, clean and neat. I only happened upon this place because most of the accommodations in town were taken. It turned out to be a JEWEL! Serene, the sound of the nearby stream in your ears as you drift off to sleep on the thick bed, the offer of tea at every moment, the gift of a small Japanese towel when we left... it was amazing. They even sent follow-up emails to make sure that we were safely continuing our trip as planned. Treat yourselves to at least an evening with these delightful hosts in this rustic mountain setting. They picked us up at the train station and returned us the next day, with Tosh waiting to make sure we were safely on our way.
