Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe bathroom is dated.
The room is a decent size for two people. The house is located in a back street. It is quiet. The host also offered a cup of tea.

AustraliaThe host is incredibly kind — he picks you up and drops you off at the station. Although he doesn’t speak English, he uses a translator and takes the time to guide you through the city, showing you local shops and places to visit. He truly goes out of his way to make sure you feel comfortable. I didn’t have cash to pay, but he even drove me to an ATM. Upon arrival, they welcome you with tea, which I loved, especially with the beautiful view of Mount Fuji. The room was excellent — it felt like a true Japanese experience.

CanadaIt’s a ryokan so expect to sleep on a thin futon on the ground with a less than comfortable pillow. If you’re familiar with a ryokan experience it’ll be great, but maybe not as your first.
The host was very kind, picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. Has a beautiful view of Mt.Fuji from our room. A short walk to convenience store and bus stops.

NetherlandsThe host was super kind and helpful. He picked us up from the station and we got surprised by a room with a picture perfect view on Mt. Fuji and a cup of tea. Beautiful! On the day of check-out he gave us a ride back to the station. Minutes later I found out I left my AirPods in the room... But the host immediately drove back as quick as he could to bring them back to me, just in time to get my bus! 10 star service!

United StatesThe place is a shared booking spot so other people could be staying in different rooms. There are locks on the room doors so we felt safe there. We didn’t have any trouble using the amenities at the same time the only thing is we couldn’t figure out the bathroom lock where there’s a shower room (the shower room had a lock but it was the frosted glass so if someone walked into the bathroom they’d somewhat see you). I don’t know if it’s cause we couldn’t find the lock or if it didn’t have one - you can see the light inside the bathroom if someone is using it but I just had my bf watch the door and vice versa.
The place felt so immersive to “old Japan” (compared to the city vibes). The room was nice and had exactly what it stated. It had a nice view of Mt Fuji (unfortunately we came at night and the next morning was cloudy but we could still see some of it). Beds were comfy and had cool robes (I don’t remember the actual name) to walk about in. The host was so nice and responsive. He had a translating app to communicate. He picked us up from the station and offered to drive us back but we wanted to walk around the city. He made us green tea when we arrived and overall 10/10. PolandI have no complaints.
Me and my friends recently had the pleasure of staying at Minshuku Iwaki, and it was a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, the host was incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. The host uses a speech translator so it is easy to communicate. The host offered free transfer for us and our baggage from and to Kawaguchiko train station, so we could fully enjoy our time. The accommodation itself was spotless and well-maintained, making for a very comfortable stay. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean, friendly, and well-cared-for lodging option. The house had a nice japanese style and felt authentic. We were also offered yukatas, which was a wonderful additional touch to the whole experience. Thank you for everything 🙏🏻

AustraliaNothing. It was a great stay.
Lovely guesthouse run by a small family in a quiet street of Fujikawaguchiko. The host is very hospitable and although he speaks little english, he is good with technology and will help you out wherever he can. He prepared a welcome snack and drink when you check in. The tatami room is clean and spacious and if you are lucky, comes with a view of Mt Fuji. The bathroom is traditional and has a bath which is prepared for you every night. The location is around 20min walk from the main train station and is close to local shops.

AustraliaThe host is very helpful and hospitable. Thank you very much. He picked us up from the station and offered to take our bags back to the Ryokan so we could sight see, also made nice welcoming tea and gave a lift back to the station. It was a cold night but we had plenty of layers of futon to keep warm. Fuji views in the morning (photo below). We walked everywhere from here, no need for bus pass if you like walking. The morning walk across the lake bridge to Oishi park offers the best views of Fuji.

ColombiaThe only thing I didn't like is that I didn't have more time in Kawaguchiko, I would love to stay at this place again.
This has been the best experience in my life. The owner picked us at the train station, we is so kind and willing to help. He did a great job communicating with us and was so helpful in many ways. The place is amazing, I felt like all those movies and animes I saw when I was a child, beautiful room, great bath, I enjoyed the bath time so much. The owner gave us tea and we got a room with view to Fuji-san. Beds are clean and they give you Yukatas, we even did a video or our own version of a tea ceremony. Just a comment for fellow guests, please be respectful with Japanese culture, this place more than a hotel is a family house, please be quiet and take off your shoes. Take care of the tatamis and all the place, cause everyone deserves to live such a beautiful experience. And to the owner: あなたの家に泊まらせてくれてありがとう。
