Price for the food was a bit high

Beautiful location, super friendly and accommodating staff went beyond and over especially when our son was sick. They didn’t have to but they wanted to make sure my son and us had a comfortable stay even with the sudden happening. Loved the bath. It smelled so great with the fresh cypress scent. Big enough to swim a lap. Stay here for the perfect Japanese esthetic vibe.

We only stayed one night. I wish we had booked several days so we could enjoy the space, explore the town of Magome more and relax. I really can't think of anything I would change or have them do better.

The guesthouse was gorgeous. We loved the beautiful cypress wood bath with the mountain view. The location was perfect, right on the Nakasendo trail. There was plenty of room for our group of 7 people. This was one of the highlights of our Japan trip. I hope to come back again and stay longer. The service was impeccable. The hosts arranged to pick us up from the train station in Nakatsugawa, but our train was delayed and then cancelled because of heavy rains. Our group of 7 people was stuck waiting at a train station 30 minutes away and the host drove to come and pick us up. The dinner they arranged was excellent and we loved the breakfast they delivered.

Amazing stay with a gorgeous view both inside the hotel and around the town. Great staff and comfortable experience. Very traditional! Would highly recommend for anyone in the Nakatsugawa area!

Amazing, kind, and extremely accommodating staff. The building was new, very well thought out and the onsen, with the giant cypress tub, was epic. The meals delivered were reverently thought out and tasted spectacular.

I wish we'd stayed for longer.

A beautiful place in the heart of Magome. The ofuro (bath) was stunning, with gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. We especially loved opening our rice paper shutters to peer out on the main road (pedestrian access only).

One shower for 6 people wasn't ideal.

Really different experience, staying in a Japanese style home. Less comfortable than a hotel (futon on the floor, no furniture) but much more memorable. Host was great.

Despite arriving later than planned, we encountered no issues with check-in. The property boasts a prime location right beside the Nakasendo trail, offering stunning mountain views from the rear. Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable.

The kitchen had no cooking pots or crockery or cutlery. All of the cafes were closed after 2pm for winter so there was no way to get food except cook your own. Very difficult when the kitchen didn't surply the basic utensils. The attention to detail just wasn't here.

Magnificent traditional style house. Amazing timber bath. Exceptional view to the mountain ranges. Fabulous location in the heritage township. Transfer to the bus station. A huge house that gave the sense of luxury.

Lack of basic furniture (such as sufficient hangers, towel racks or places to hang clothes in the rooms) and lack of utensils for the kitchen. Given the house can sleep as many as 8 people, providing only 1 hair dryer seems petty. There were also no extra toilet paper etc. The dinner at the Hotel's sister restaurant was far too pricey for the food being offered and the restaurant was very dark and cold since we were the only diners. They seemed to make up lesser quality with excessive quantity.

Location is very good at the centre of Magome juku and the house has an excellent view of Mt Ena. However, breakfast was expensive for what was provided although it is convenient to have it delivered. Host could have given more information about breakfast options in town.

Location cannot be beaten. Very spacious and clean. Gorgeous cedar tub with view of mountains. But the best part was the people. Such kind, gracious hosts. Our hike was sadly ruined by heavy rain. My daughter fell and bloodied her arm badly. They drove us to the next town so we could still see it even though we could no longer hike it. It was a long drive and they did not have to do it. I think they felt sorry that our outing had been ruined. Such kind people. I have come to appreciate kind people in life more than just about anything else. We need more of them. Please stay here.
