Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Very clean with all the comfort, the staff is super nice and happy to help with everything. The position is strategic if you rent a car, not too far from the city to go out for dinner and near the main beaches. There’s also a Family Mart in 5 min by car.

AustraliaN/A - apart from the restaurants in the nearby hotel, there aren’t any eateries in walking distance which I knew about so it wasn’t a problem.
Spacious and clean room, also quiet location. It’s on top of the hill and had a great view of the ocean. Walking distance to Fusaki beach for swim.

SingaporeThe soundproofing of the rooms were weak so when some children kept running up and down the stairs, I could hear from my room and it is quite annoying.
Staff were helpful, location slightly located out of city but perfect that it’s quiet. Non issue since I already knew beforehand.

United StatesIt was a little way out of the town - only 10 - 15 minutes by car. That was apparent when I booked it, but it did mean everything was a car ride.
The room is large and comfortable with a counter for drink/light snack breakfast preparation. I think they did not offer breakfast or else I did not take it. But there was a kettle in the room and a microwave. They also had a small guest laundry which was helpful. The bed was very comfortable. They offered a Barbecue in the evenings which certainly smelled good but I did not try. They seemed very young family friendly with lots of baby/toddler stuff on the communal hall that the upstairs bedrooms were off. The Nepalese staff spoke excellent English, the owner very friendly and helpful. Note Google maps would send me back to the hotel by a narrow a circuitous route.

United StatesI would have loved a coffee shop or seating area to sit out and enjoy however there may have actually been one and I missed it
The location was out of the town however there was a large resort in walking distance. We found the owner so welcoming going above normal service to make sure we were comfortable. We loved that there were animals ( bunnies , ducks , small owl and horse. The room size and bathroom set up were very large and worked well for our family

United StatesI would recommend renting a car to stay here. The taxi from the airport was a bit pricey and there are not any stores/restaurants that are reasonably walkable. With that being said we liked the privacy and enjoyed being away from the crowds.
It is the cutest hotel. They have sweet little animals to welcome guests inside. The staff is amazing, especially Reika. She went out of her way to make us feel very welcome. The rooms are very much beach style with Japanese amenities including a heated bathroom floor and full size fridge. The beach is a beautiful 5 minute walk away. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the shower had amazing hot water with great pressure.

FranceThe hotel is very nice and comfy with a great location (10 min walking distance from a beautiful beach with all the facilities you need - changing room, shower, etc). The staff is really nice and helpful and it was a pleasure having conversation with them. Once again, I would like to thank them for their kindness and availability. We had a so pleasant and great stay You should also try the BBQ dinner :) !

South KoreaReika and staff were amazing. Exceptionally kind and helpful. They would even go out of their ways to help us reserve certain restaurants / activities in short notice (I found out that they drove to the city to try to reserve one particularly famous restaurant when it didn't take phone calls). English is not an issue which was also great. Room / facility was very clean and home-like. Everything was well organized. Location is right next to the Fusaki Beach which boasts a great sunset scenery, and quite close to Ishigaki port / city where you can enjoy many restaurants and local activities. Small things like renting Okinawa-style clothes for kids and snorkeling gear for free was also a plus. And the kids loved playing with the small animals (owl, bunnies, ducks, parrots, etc.). Definitely our hotel of choice next time we visit Ishigaki.

AustriaWe would have had a great view of the ocean from our room - if it hadn't been for the tainted windows. While the fridge is convenient to have, it is also right next to the beds and sometimes very noisy at night. And since they ask you never to open the windows because of the high humidity, you don't really get to see the view. First thing we did was get rid of the countless airfresheners that gave the room a truly headache-inducing smell. Terrible pillows. While the animals are cute (the parrot and the owl in particular), we have our concerns about the way they are being kept.
Spacious and clean rooms. A large fridge and a mirowave in the room. Balcony with a beautiful view (see below though). While the location is a bit remote, it is a good base to explore the island from if one has a rental car (absolutely required when visiting the island). Also, since it is outside of the main town, the view of the stars is breathtaking.

United KingdomThere’s a mould problem here, the staff warned us on arrival and at the time we didn’t mind, but in hindsight I wish we hadn’t have stayed as all my clothes not smell of mould. The animals also seem like a gimmick, they’re usually just in small cages in the lobby.
The staff were really friendly and it was in a nice location.

CambodiaI read in previous comments that "due to the high humidity" there is a mold smell in the rooms. Unfortunately, in reality it was so strong that I could not stay in the hotel and had to book another place. It costed quite a lot as I booked on a very short notice. I don't think it is only humidity to blame as my new hotel was perfectly fine. Must be some kind of ventilation design fault. Lost money because it was too late to cancel Little Mermaid booking.
New facility and a good view.

NetherlandsWe were attracted by the fact that this hotel has animals and that the reviews were positive. Regarding the animals, we don’t understand the positive reviews. For example: the rabbits, they have terribly small enclosures and only have food and drink and a corner to do their business, there is nothing else in their enclosures. Same goes for the parakeets. The owl has 1 stick to sit on and is attached to a string with its leg. If you care about the welfare of animals, I do not recommend this hotel.
The rooms are very spacious.

NetherlandsNo pickup from airport although it was mentioned as an option on booking. We needed to take a bus into town and wait for a while to get another bus. Due to bus schedule we arrived at 14 but check-in is from 15. They had been fully booked but there was no flexibility and our room was not ready. There is no mountain view nor sea view. For the price and the remote location, you'll expect some leisure options, some space to relax and read a book like a garden, swimming pool or a common area. Nothing for kids either. Outside: You're in the parking lot. I personally don't like seeing an owl on a string, but otherwise they are good for their animals.
Having your own transportation is recommended. There is a busstop nearby but there are only a few busses each day, so you need a cab at night to get back to the hotel from out of town (~1800Y). The hotel doesn't offer breakfast and has limited offer for dinner (nice btw). Friendly thoughtful staff, always around, working hard. Very clean and spacious rooms. There's a nice roof terrace to go stargazing when it's a clear night.
