Outstanding. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Room was fabulous. Small extra charge for the rooftop bath but well worth it. Appreciated the 11am checkout time. Traditional Japanese clothes for guests. There is a top quality Japanese restaurant on site so if you want a very special evening there book ahead. I wanted to stay another night but it was booked out.

Really nice place with a beautiful bathroom. The onsen was outside and really beautiful . The room was elegant and special. Staff great. We had the Japanese breakfast one morning and it was very high quality. Garden was also beautiful.

The only downside is that if you have mobility issues, a traditional-style stay may not be the most comfortable option. Also, the location is a little out of the way but we ended up discovering a lovely little café just around the corner, which served great coffee and made our mornings extra enjoyable.

The food was amazing! Breakfast and dinner were included, and the portions were so generous we actually felt a bit guilty not being able to finish everything at times. We were there for a 50th birthday celebration, and although my husband has a bad back, the staff were incredibly accommodating. They kindly arranged for a dining chair to be placed in our room so he could sit comfortably to put on his socks and relax. The thoughtful service made a big difference to our stay. Highly recommend

The sheets and towels had a strong smell of something like, detergent, and not a pleasant one. The location is a bit off the city center but there are buses going nearby every 10-20mins.

Great experience, romantic, the rooms altough they were traditional they were still modern enough. They provide free yukata (kimono) in the room. Their backyard with japanese garden looks fantastic.

I wanted to book a Ryokan for our visit to Japan, for all of the good things I had read about these establishments and it totally delivered. Highlights of this place: the tatami floor and the room we booked was great for our family of 3 - we had a crawling baby with us. Nice views to the mountain and the zen garden on the back of the property, I've appreciated the calmness of the surroundings of this property. There are a few good restaurants around it as well, and plentiful options for small hikes, temples and shrines to visit - all within walking distance. The restaurant experience was good for a 1 time, but with so many great options around it as well we preferred eating out most of the time.

One of our favorite places we stayed in Japan over the course of two weeks. Great hospitality. Love the rooms & the private hot tub on the roof. it was perfect for our group of three. we were able to walk to everything, but we also took the bus all around town and it was super easy. 10/10

I loved everything about it. A bit pricey, but it was worth it.

The room was amazing- a beautiful Ryokan-style but with the comforts of flat-screen TV, a whole vanity kit (inc toothbrushes, face masks etc) and fridge. the kaiseki breakfast is definitely recommended. sights such as temples, museums and zoos are nearby.

If you’re considering a stay in Kyoto, stop thinking and start booking—Ryokan Kanade is the place to be! The staff? Sugoi. The atmosphere? Even more sugoi. Every detail feels like it was crafted with care, kindness, and the spirit of omotenashi. I only wish they could help me find a lovely Japanese lady to marry so I could stay in Kyoto forever, but I suppose that’s the one service not included! 😉 Truly, a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Ryokan Kanade. You made Kyoto feel like home. 11/10 experience. Arigatou gozaimashita!
