Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe coffee shop downstairs is amazing but I wasn't sure if it was ok to sit there as hotel guests without buying anything. It would be good if they clarified this.
This is a great hotel in Fukuoka The location is excellent, the staff are friendly and the rooms are comfortable. The coffee shop in the lobby is great and is open 24 hours! The whole vibe was awesome!

IndonesiaThe room is too small; it is designed for only one person. Not many choices for breakfast.
Good location with vibrant ambience. The book theme addressed by the hotel makes the Hotel much more interesting. This accomodation is more fit young people.

United StatesThe AC struggled to keep up with how much heat was being put off by the mini-fridge (plus the summer weather.) We only had 2 people in the bunk room, and I imagine it would've been VERY hot if there had been more than 2. I also felt like the staff was always overwhelmed. It makes sense because they are running the cafe, the front desk, etc., but sometimes you had to queue for quite a while to get help. I think you're paying for the location + the "amenities" of the cafe, but if you don't use them, it's a fairly standard hotel.
Excellent location for getting to and from the station, and near lots of great food and drinks. The bed was semi-comfortable, and the bathroom/shower/tub were very clean and spacious. They had all the standard amenities, and it was nice to have the little lounge in the bunk room to relax in before bed. Wifi worked great, and staff were always pleasant.

New ZealandWhat a charming little hotel! We only stayed one night at Lamp Light Books Hotel Fukuoka, but we would absolutely stay longer next time. The room was small—as is common in Japan—but manageable if you keep your luggage light. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean, and the king-size bed was wonderfully large and very comfortable. Our favorite part of the stay was the cozy waiting area, which doubles as a café, bookstore, and library. It was the perfect place to relax, read, or just enjoy a quiet moment. The location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and malls nearby—super convenient for exploring the city. We also found out later that there are food trucks parked out front at night. Sadly, we missed them, but the night we stayed they had proper carnitas tacos from a Mexican truck—wish we had known sooner! All in all, we loved this hotel. It had great vibes, great location, and great comfort. We’re coming back to Fukuoka next year, and I’d love to stay here again.

United KingdomEfficient check in after a last minute booking. The staff were helpful and welcoming. Really quiet hotel tucked away in a cool part of town. The rooms are small but we expected that. The shower was great and the bed was so comfortable: first time sleeping through to morning since arriving in Japan 8 days ago.

United StatesDryer doesn’t work that well, you can only wash a small amount of clothes, but I guess that’s typical. No drying rack/line in the room. Would be good to have a rack or some more places to hang things since the dryer is lacking. In general, more hooks would be nice.
The lobby is a nice place to hang out, but it can get crowded.

PhilippinesIt was a bit expensive for a Sunday-Monday stay. Too early checkout time at 10am.
The location is amazing, just across all good restaurants. Nice and cozy café in the lobby, which is open 24hrs for those checked-in at the hotel, with free use of books. The room was very clean and comfortable. The toilet and shower areas are a bit bigger than most hotels in Fukuoka.

This is a fantastic location. Tasteful decor in the rooms- retro lights, wood, books, a good sized balcony. Excellent facilities, communal washers, microwave etc. Had a chilled vibe and of course lots of books mostly in Japanese. Very good value. Was also nice and quiet in the rooms.
