Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomBunkbeds are very close together with no privacy curtains, was disappointed by this. Bathroom door has a notable gap at floor level so privacy is naturally reduced.

AustraliaFor those westerners used to a thick mattress this is probably not the place for you. Mattress on bunk beds are about 5cm thick, and space between beds is not for the rotund among us! It wasn’t a dislike for us, but more of a warning for people looking for budget accommodation.
Great budget room. Location easily accessible by bus from Kyoto Station. Free laundry use, including liquid. Quiet setting close to the river. Staff very friendly. Great for somewhere to put your head down after a day of sightseeing.

MalaysiaI was hoping for thicker mattress, but it’s okey for the price we paid for this accommodation. It’s a bit far from main attractions, but it’s not too bad for us because we rented a car.
Good facilities.. fridge, microwave, washer n dryer, parking. Elevator is definitely convenient for us as we have a few large luggages. Check in and check out was easy. A few convenient stores nearby to get our supplies. One of them is less than 5 minutes walk from the property.

United KingdomA bit far from train station to Kyoto center, but the train takes you to Osaka directly which is excellent.
Good spacious room, medium sized fridge and microwave, handy if you don't feel like eating out because you won't find any restaurants nearby. Bus stop is nearer than train station if you need to go to Kyoto station, but you need to find a way using google maps. There's Lawson nearby or 7-11 near the train station, so make sure you plan your visit before going home. Excellent laundry facility & staff is friendly. The location is only 2 stops away from the buzzling Kawaramachi area, but you feel like living in the outskirt of Kyoto because of quietness and old houses.

BulgariaIt was pretty far from everything. The beds were not that comfortable.
The room was spacious, and the hostel was in a very quiet street. We stayed on the first floor, and we could hear a lot of noise from the room upstairs. There is a very nice coffee place near; otherwise, the hostel is not very close to the city centre. It is a good place for the price, but I wouldn't recommend it.

GermanyThe dryer didn't dry our clothes enough, they were still wet (could be that we weren't accustomed to the usage of those type of combo); The location is pretty far from the city center and you either need to take the Hankyu line, which takes a 10 min walk, or the bus, of which only 2 lines, one of it goes to Kyoto station, are from Kyoto City Bus, and a third line, which is run by Keihan (keep your IC cards ready).
There is a combo washing machine and dryer, which is free to use. The rooms are very spacious despite the 2 bunk beds in the room. Unique Wi-fi for every room (compared to shared Wi-fi across the floor). All the necessary essentials like fridge, microwave and a typical Japanese bathroom are included.
