How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Bed was not very comfortable. No coffee. Breakfast was not very good.
Close to metro station of two different lines (Oedo and Marunochi) and on a quiet back street with shops in close vicinity.

Breakfast finished too early (7.am to 9am). The checkout time was too early - 10am

Not enough power points and no cutlery and terrible pillows.
The location was excellent beside a train station and good restaurants.

A bit worn out But if it’s like the others we stayed it would cost a lot more. So we didn’t mind so long it’s clean!
Room is big enough since we have 3 adults. Location is excellent as we needed one very near Uni of Tokyo campus! Easy access to eateries & especially train station. Breakfast is simple but very good spread!

No drinking water supply in room. I have to take it from the bathroom. While Japanese majbtain high standards of water, i am not sure about the tap.

I might say the location of the hotel can be confusing for starters as it was a bit hidden.
I really like the location of the hotel, where it was closed with a train station (Hongo-Sanchome Station, the station we usually used to go around Tokyo as well as to Shibuya and Shinjuku), which is can easily be accessed by me and my family, going around with large luggage. Moreover, I like the staff, they are very kind and friendly, that can also understand English which is very convenient for us.

Everything a bit old, cleanliness is not the best and the breakfast wasn't very good and definitely not worth the money.
Good location near University of Tokyo, helpful and kind staff and relatively good price-performance.

The carpet inside the room is clean. However, I believe it will be better if the hotel changes all carpet with new ones.
The location is strategically placed just a few minutes walk from the Hongo-sanchome subway station. Although the hotel is inside a small alley, big roads filled with many restaurants and convenient stores are just outside the alley. Therefore, it is relatively calm at night and good for taking a good sleep. Not all staff can accommodate English conversation but all of them are always helpful in assisting with any inquiries. Regarding the amenities, I personally like the hand/face wash because it does not make skin dry.

Cleanliness wasn't ideal; there were darkish stains on my sheets. The configuration of the furniture in the room makes it difficult to move around and open your luggage. Sound isolation isn't great; I could hear people walking in the corridor so clearly that it felt a little uncomfortable.
Hotel is well located; close to subway station and about a 10-15 minutes walk from JR/Kesei Ueno. It's also very close to Tokyo University. There are English instructions for all appliances. The room has a fridge.

Bed was a little hard and no nice scenery, but that's not much of a problem for me.
It's the nearest hotel from Tokyo University Hongo Campus. I have a business in the university, so the location is really good for that. I came a bit too early but they let me rest in the room so I'm really thankful for that. It's also easy to find food around the hotel.

The cleanliness of the bathrooms was very poor. Pink and black mold were everywhere. The walls inside the room were dirty and old.
The staff was nice and the location was very close to the metro station.
