Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We stayed on the top floor and had access to the lounge and refreshments, which was good. The location is very convenient for us and we will almost certainly stay there again when we are next in Hamamatsu

TurkeyWe went to the hotel with a car, which made it difficult to find the hotel and we needed to go around for a while. If you come on foot from the station, it's easy to find it.
Very clean, comfortable, good service, very nice staff, loved staying here!

New ZealandRooms clean, beds comfy. Amenities available at reception and other floors for you to take as needed. We always stay at the executive floor to have access to the lounge and some complimentary drinks - and a massage chair! Well worth your money. And did i talk about access? Cross the street and you are pretty much in Hamamatsu Station. Pretty much my home whenever I am in Hamamatsu 😊

SwitzerlandWhat I had not realize is that this hotel also has rooms where smoking is allowed, actually entire floors. Even if I was located on a non-smoking floor, they were moments during the day where I could smell the cigarette till inside my room. Quite annoying.
The Location is perfect. Very close to the train station. The room size was good enough for a single person and even a couple. The staff was friendly and willing to help.

AustraliaSmall thing for double bedroom - bed against wall with only a few inches at foot of bed to manoeuvre so a little tricky to get to toilet at night.
Location - opposite train station but quiet. Easy to get to Yamaha and Suzuki. Excellent service with Public bath. Yum Japanese breakfast, the highlight being the friendly grandmotherly server who dished up the local unagi (eel) and rice. Could open window a little for fresh air.

ThailandFor breakfast, everyone could only get one bowl of unagi don. While I completely understand the cost involved, it would be nice if refills were available. Other than that, there’s nothing serious to dislike.
This hotel has a perfect location for tourists exploring Hamamatsu. It is close to Hamamatsu train station, the bus station, and nearby malls. There are several stores and restaurants in the area. The staff are all welcoming and friendly. The breakfast is good and reasonably priced. The drink bar in the evening is a bonus, offering self-pour Asahi beer. The bed is comfortable, and the room size is larger than the typical size in Japan. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay.

IsraelIt was a little dated and you can't fully close the blinds so I, as a light sleeper, had a very early morning. Also, the sound proofing helped at night, but not once the trains started.
Great location, the staff went the extra mile to help and even if some couldn't speak English they had an automatic translator that help move things along. The hotel itself is cozy, the Onsen is actually a Sento I think but adds an extra touch.

NorwayWhile extremely friendly and helpful the staff were mostly not conversant in english, causing some minor communication errors at times. Some rudimentary skill in conversational Japanese beyond a phrasebook level is highly recommended. Similarly, some of the signage was translated into english in a way that left some ambiguities. The central location meant occasional noises from traffic outside (my room faced the central plaza). While good overall, the breakfast was decidely japanese in character and lacked breakfast options one would ordinarily find in british/continental-style hotels - if you expect options like toast and beans, or fresh-pressed fruit juice and granola in your hotel breakfasts, you will not find them here. Overall these were minor (and very expected) quibbles and did not subtract from my overall enjoyment of the stay.
The Kuretakeso provided clean, spacious rooms at a reasonable rate in an extremely central location in Hamamatsu city; perfect for a week's visit for tourism or conference/business stays. Access to free facilities (wi-fi in the hotel, A/C and tea-making facilities in every room, public bath and sauna) was included without additional price or prompting, as was a complimentary pair of slippers, with vending machines and coin-operated washer/dryer on the premises. Signage in both english and japanese made it easy to move around the hotel and understand most of its features. I paid extra for hotel breakfast and it was altogether good, with varied dishes including local products (eel) included.
