Was a bit weird that you could look down to the road from the onsen, but i guess ppl cant see you in your nakedness

View was quite nice, read the reviews so expected to be in the cottages where there were stairs.

It is a little dated but not a huge issue. Sadly the beds weren’t overly comfortable and the pillows aren’t great :(

The location was great, staff were super friendly and LOVED the onsen. Good value for money.

Rooms are quite dated and furniture and everything around is pretty old. Railing outside the window is rusty and chipped badly despite the view from the window being so amazing.

View outside my room was breathtaking as requested, very quiet.

Quite run-down, cottages are a bit away from the hotel and you need to go down several stairs and stuff is a bit rustic. The fridge in the room never got cold, even when turned on. The bathroom stayed quite moist.

It is good value for the money. Onsen had generous open times and you got daily yukata and fresh towels. View of the river was nice and great view of the mountains in the mornings.

No English translator there. But we managed with google translate, Thanks for that!

Did not eat there, it was too expensive. So we cheaped out and went to the 7-11 just across the street.

There wasn't any water provided in the room, nor in the premises beyond 9pm, so guests have to either buy from the vendo machine or refill before hotel closes, and overall the hotel facilities and interiors are outdated i.e. onsen shower area, bedroom, hotel waiitng areas. Would've also appreciated if the hotel mentioned in advance that an additional fee for the onsen will be charged (150 yen per person per night). Without a lift, the outdoor walk towards the park cottages is not easy for travellers with luggage strollers.

There were several choices for the public bath or onsen, the view from thr Park cottage room was spectacular (autumn in Nov) and the location was less than 10mins away from the station and 711.

For the price we paid, the is looking a bit tired now and this shows in the rooms and the facilities. We didn’t use the public baths.

The location is beautifully set in a sleepy and scenic town.

There was black mold on the window frame that we had to wipe off. Staff does not speak English. There is a walk and stairs to get from the cottage rooms to the hot springs.

Cheaper option for a nice onsen

The facilities in the cottage are a bit old, but it adds to an atmosphere I guess. There are few dining options in Kinugawa onsen, and breakfast/dinner is not included if you stay in the cottage.

The hotel is situated in a very beatiful location on the bank of the valley. It's a very traditional and old-fashioned ryokan with a great onsen. It has a bunch of wooden cottages nearby which is a cheaper option, I think. You still get access to the onsen, and the view from the cottage is also beautiful. There's also a 7-11 across the street which is helpful as in this little town it might be otherwise difficult to obtain food at certain times of the day. It takes about 40 minutes to get to Tobu-Nikko station, so it's possible to explore Nikko during your stay as well.

Old dated place with mould in the room, particularly in the bathroom. We have found also some long hairs on the floor of our bathroom. Not possible to order a breakfast or dinner without prior reservation (before check in). The men onsen isn’t also the cleanest place.

Very nice location with a great view on the forest and river. Onsen with potential but requires some renovation and more frequent cleaning.

During peak hours of check in, the front desk was really busy. When we were called, the attendant was giving instructions to us very fast. It’s a bit hard to catch as a foreigner as it was all japanese. But it was understandable.
