Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe street the hotel is on can make it difficult to get to taxis and the hotel itself is a distance from the train station - be prepared to be in traffic during peak times. The room had a faintly musty scent to it but was clean and comfortable.
The hotel is in an excellent location very near most of the most interesting things to do and see in the city. The street it is on is cool and trendy, with shops and restaurants easily within walking distance. The staff has a native English speaker who is extremely helpful and passionate about Kanazawa who had a lot of good advice for us. The bar on the first floor is great - you'd be missing out if you didn't stop in at happy hour for bespoke cocktails and some good music!

United StatesThe property is advertised as a budget hotel, and a few details confirm this such as more worn, looking bathrobes and linens, lack of coffee provided in the room. However, it was within our expectations and was perfectly comfortable and serviceable.
The property was in a great location for visiting the garden, museums and historic districts. We loved the corner twin with its floor to ceiling windows. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the record bar was a fun place to have a drink and appetizers before going out for dinner.

United StatesThe main reason to come here is the Kanazawa Music Bar, which has incredible audiophile sound and the music is curated by some great local selectors. The food at the bar is excellent - upscale bar food - but it's definitely not cheap! It's a beautiful place. The location is great, plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The room was a good size and really clean. The staff was excellent - I had a problem with the water drainage in the shower and they switched me to an upgraded room no problem. They also helped me send my luggage to the next hotel.

United StatesMy only feedback was that water pressure could get a little weak, but we were on the top floor, and it was never a huge issue. the other thing is - the bar is playing the music way too loud. I understand wanting to immerse in the music (huge vinyl fan myself!), but we couldn't even hear the wait staff.
The room size was incredible. If you're staying with a group, or if you're just craving room to spread out and relax, this is perfect!! Having a kitchenette was great for storing breakfast options and snacks. The views were amazing, and the location was pretty perfect. We were easily able to get to the castle, Kenroku-en, and to the samurai district, and we never had to search long for great food and drinks. This was the highlight of all our stays in Japan!

JapanDrain in the bath was a bit clogged (I am sure they would have cleaned it if I asked, but it didn't bother me that much and I was too lazy to call reception)
Staff were really polite and friendly, kept my luggage for me on day of check in and check out, and overall it was really good value for the money. Room was clean.

JapanFantastic location and comfortable, modern setup. Staff were friendly and professional at all times. My room was spacious and well-appointed. In many ways, I didn't feel like I was staying in hotel but more like staying in a bedroom in a home. Which is a big positive. Although I didn't eat or drink at the bar, it looked like a good setup. I will definitely stay again when in Kanazawa.

Anyone into music will appreciate this place. The sound system is pretty awesome and they are clearly proud of it…they print the details on the menu which is printed in the style of an LP record cover. Immediately outside is the main shopping area which has a lot of fashionable shops and at night lots of choice for restaurants and bars. Phenomenal value for money compared to eg tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto…and the rooms aren’t pokey! Highly recommended!

United StatesOf all the places we stayed in Japan, this was the most "western." The staff we either native english speakers or from Europe, the furnishing and design would fit in any hip city neighborhood. While I'm glad this wasn't true of all our accommodations, it was a nice break to stay somewhere very familiar feeling for a little while. The views of the city and mountains from our room were lovely. The bar with guest only happy hour was very welcoming, and the street/neighborhood was cool, with pedestrian-centric shopping, vintage clothes, and bossanova jams played on speakers throughout the block. We took a taxi from the train station to help with carrying luggage, but once we settled it, this hotel was walkable to everywhere we wanted to go!
