Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ThailandNewly renovated and very clean room with great mountain and river views. The hotel is tucked away yet not too far from the main attraction, Kappa bridge which made our stay very peaceful and away from the crowd. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. Great spa and onsen. Restaurant serves fantastic dishes and the best in Kamikochi.

SingaporeWith high price that we paid for 1 night, i think the breakfast could be better selection. I was expecting the hotel with grand lobby, but turn out the reception is small. It is more like a boutique hotel. The onsen is quite small.
I love the view from our room with big glass window, facing the river and mountains. The room is very spacious and bonus, there is a massage chair to enjoy the scenery. They even provide binoculars to view birds from our room. The staff are very friendly who provide professional service. The hotel is clean and comfortable. Though the hotel is a distance from the bus terminal (apprx 20 mins walk), to me, it is away from the crowd and so much quieter where you can really enjoy the scenery.

GermanyThe dinner was a predefined course and there was no option to order “a la carte”. In general although the hotel was nice but it was a too pricey from our point of view.
The location was great - not immediately at the crowded Kappa bridge but located at a quiet area just 10 min walk from the bridge. The breakfast was amazing and spa area (Onsen) was as well nice and clean. The stuff was very kind.

SwitzerlandYou need to walk from the bus stop to the hotel, which can be challenging with large suitcases or in case of heavy rain. Hotel would be well advised to offer a pickup service, e.g. with small electric carts as for instance done in Zermatt, Switzerland. The dinner is included in the stay, so half board, and restaurant serves French cuisine. The hotel makes this very clear, so no surprises there. Still, while for domestic travellers this may may appealing, for international guest having an option for a Japanese dinner would be great
Located in a car-free (national) park, surrounded by mountains and nature, alongside a beautiful river. Staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. Rooms are comfortable and nicely done. Hotel has a very relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. Japanese breakfast is excellent

United StatesUnfortunately we were not informed ahead of time by the hotel that the only way to get here was by local bus. The bus stop is still a 20 minute walk to the hotel. In addition we weren’t informed that the bus would stop running at a certain time and we were forced to hire a cab which cost ¥5,200 one way. We had to park our car about 7km away at a lot that charged ¥1,400. We did take the local bus back to the parking lot but it was outrageously expensive at ¥1,300 per person, one way. In total just to get to this place it cost us ¥9,200 for two people. You’re better off hiring a tour bus company to take you and save yourself the hassle. We figured all this out without any prior knowledge from the hotel. To the hotel, I recommend a disclaimer on how to arrive at your hotel, with detailed instructions, especially for foreign guests.
We stayed overnight, the room was very spacious and clean on the 3rd floor. We were directly across from the private onsen which is an extra charge of ¥3,300 for one hour. It was a 17 minutes walk to the Kappabashi Bridge. The area is very quiet and relaxing. The service from the employees was exceptional.
