Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe property is gorgeous, the perfect blend of modern conveniences and historic Japanese aesthetic. The property is adjoining the famous Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine area, and a short walk to multiple attractions such as Omiya Yokocho and the Mt Fuji Museum. Takenoma has a spacious layout with a beautiful view of bamboo in the bedroom, and we enjoyed listening to the cicadas in the evening in the patio area. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom is on the other side of the patio, and has great shower / bath facilities. Access to the laundry and kitchen the shared spaces was easy and convenient. Finally, the host was very lovely and explained the check-in process to us upon arrival. The staff we saw during our stay were very nice as well. Overall we had a wonderful stay and hope we can come back on our next trip to Japan.

Great location, beautiful property with many amenities and a great staff. You must visit the “ティールーム・アミ” cafe run by the sweetest grandma and grandpa, just a 2 minute walk from the property.

IrelandA Peaceful, Charming Retreat Surrounded by Nature and Culture Our stay at this beautiful traditional Japanese inn was nothing short of magical. Tucked away near the forest, the view from our room was absolutely breathtaking — lush greenery, birdsong in the morning, and the calming presence of nature all around. It truly felt like a peaceful escape from the busy world. The property itself was full of charm and authenticity, wooden details, and a serene atmosphere. Yet it was also conveniently located — just a short walk to local shops, restaurants, and even a nearby temple that felt like a hidden gem. The combination of tranquility, beauty, and accessibility made this stay unforgettable. If you're looking for a genuine Japanese experience with comfort and soul, this place is perfect. We would absolutely stay here again.

New ZealandThe stairs to the room were steep. Thank God our luggage was not big. The bed duvets should be thinner as the room keeps the heat at night despite the Air Con being on.
Kikusui is a special place to stay, great location and fabulous surroundings. First time we slept on futons and it was very comfortable. The room was spacious, although it was the smallest one. And the cedar smell was so nice. I like that there was a laundry facility and that the kitchen was always spotless, in spite it was a shared kitchen.

Serene leafy setting for a beautiful inn. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated in typical Japanese style. The bathroom was modern with a large shower and tub. Clean and cozy with trees all around. The whole place is totally Zen 🏯

Take no ma and the entire property was super clean, quiet, and atmospheric. The room gets lots of beautiful light, and the bath across the terrace is great.

AustraliaAll Good
Lovely blend of Traditional Japanese architecture with modern facilities. Set right next to the Wakutama Pond and bamboo Forest which is located at the tip of a lava flow which burst out during an eruption of Mt. Fuji approximately 10 thousand years ago. It is believed that rain and snow falling on Mt. Fuji collected in the cracks of this flow after it cooled and hardened. Traditional Climbers of Mt. Fuji cleanse themselves in this pond before climbing.

We loved the view and privacy of the garden room. The separate sitting room, outside deck, and pristine bathroom were all wonderful surprises. Beds were very comfortable. Location next to the Shrine was fantastic as the archery festival was going on so it was very easy to access the site and observe the festivities.

AustraliaJust be aware, there are no chairs as it's a traditional japanese accommodation. So you sleep on the mattress on the floor, and you sit on cushions. We didn't mind this as we knew beforehand.
Super cute accommodation. Classic traditional style japanese accommodation. Although there are no staff on premises we could communicate via messages on the Booking app and they were very quick to reply, so we had no issues. Great communication before we arrived so we could find the place and get in.

United KingdomLoved it!
We absolutely love staying here. It’s such a nice space; really well looked after with thoughtful touches and decorations. Take-No-Ma Bath was so nice after a long cold rainy day in the foothills. Facilities are excellent , particularly the laundry room! The surrounding town has lots of options, everybody we met was lovely . I didn’t meet many of the staff at Kikusi, except when checking out, and they were very friendly. I highly recommend this place.

SingaporeWe love the atmosphere of the room. Just to note that to access the bathroom, you will need to walk out across the terrace. It was pretty cold weather during our stay so it was abit troublesome when we were going for a bath. Sadly, during our stay, we didn't get to fully enjoy and relax in the room since we were outside exploring most of the time. Would be good if the temperature of the tap water in the main room can be adjusted, since our hands were freezing every time we used it.

Amazing location, with a perfect view of Mt Fuji from your backyard. The property is next to a shrine and a garden with a lake, which really adds to the peaceful and serene atmosphere of my stay. Upon entering the property, I felt like I was transformed into another world with its tradition Japanese interior and designs, and greenery and scenery with every corner you take. The location could not have been better, with local cafes and restaurants just a few minutes walk away, and the Mt Fuji museum just a few minutes away on foot. The bridge outside the property truely holds the most magical view of the mountain, I could not have asked for a better stay! In terms of my experience and the staff at this property, the owner was there to greet us and introduced us to the property. She was incredibly kind and accomodating and when my friend and I arrived there earlier than the check in time, she was there to help us out with our luggage and took us to the common area to rest because our room was ready. She recommended us local restaurants to try out and was truely accomodating and very welcoming. The room itself was also incredible! From the garden view to the interior itself, I was in awe and never wanted to leave. All in all, there was nothing bad to say about this property and the staff, and I highly recommend this property for an incredible experience at Mt Fuji!

Gorgeous building and gardens, very cute and cozy rooms with a lot of amenities. Check in and out was on your own, so never interacted with staff. Hotel is set right behind a large temple with a view of Fuji, and there’s a good view of the grounds from the common lounge area. There is laundry and a kitchen on site, and everything felt very homey. Wish I could’ve stayed longer!
