Amazing stay. It was a fantastic experience to enjoy the entire traditional Japanese house in a very quiet area, facing Kamogawa, but again really close to Shinjo Kirawachi. The host has very good tastes in interior design and providing the servicing items such as shampoo, tea, the tablewares and the bedding. The welcome gifts are also well-chosen (and the hand writing card is touching), and then I bought a large box of such sweeties in Takashimaya for my own. The stay is luxury (in a good way) and really comfortable. A mixure of modern living and traditional place. If I come to Kyoto next time again, this will, with no doubt, be my choice.

This accommodation made our stay in Kyoto very special. We wanted an authentic experience, and this house exceeded all expectations. First, the location of the house is unbeatable. It is centrally located, close to restaurants, bars, cafes, shopping and public transport. Second, the house is very modern inside and well equipped. It was a perfect choice for a group of four. A very well equipped small kitchen with a fridge and a coffee machine and a teapot was exactly what we needed. Third, the bedding was super comfortable. Although you sleep on the floor, it is very comfortable and the bed sheets are very soft and of high quality. Fourth, the view from the living room and the main bedroom is a huge bonus. It is on the front line on the river and faces the sunny side. Fifth, the communication with the owner was very smooth. He was very caring. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and a beautiful gift for a birthday celebration. Everything in this house was well thought to the smallest detail. This accommodation made our stay in Kyoto very special. We will definitely consider it for our next trip and we highly recommend it.

Incredible location on the river and close to many shops and restaurants. Plenty of room for a large group with 2 bedrooms upstairs. Very nice and hospitable host who made us feel very welcome. The back porch on the river was amazing.

The kitchen was well equipped but there was no place to comfortably sit and eat for Westerners who are not use eating at low table and sitting on cushions. It was fine for me, but I have chosen to not stay here when traveling with older relatives and friends. My only concern is that this place is so great, it will become too popular and I will have a hard time booking stays in the future. :D

The manager was excellent with his communications to keep me updated before during and after my stay. It was like meeting an old friend on my trip back to Kyoto. Check-in was a breeze and I appreciated the welcome snack, information book, restaurant recommendations, area map and bus maps, too. I will save my welcome coffee to drink in America to remind me of my stay! The location is excellent. Great access to sightseeing, restaurants, public transit, easy access to other parts of Kyoto and Osaka (where I went for dinner with friends), wonderful views of the surrounding area in a quiet location in the middle of Kyoto without feeling like you a stuck in busy tourist hotel. It was my third time staying here and I plan to come back again. Having a washer/dryer machine was great!

Beautiful and historic townhouse. The location was brilliant walkable to Pontocho and main Kyoto shopping street. Most importantly, it was by the river and absolutely gorgeous views during the Sakura Bloom!

It would be nice if the curtains in the room could be more opaque.

The perfect house! I've been to Kyoto 3 times and this room is the most Japanese style I've ever experienced. I highly recommend anyone reading this review to book this room. It's right next to the Kamo River, with a great view and a great location, and the fact that it doesn't face the street means it's quiet, which is rare in the city center. The landlord is very enthusiastic and all our requests can be fulfilled. The house has 3 large rooms, suitable for a family or a group outing.
