The cafe on the 1st floor serves breakfast and dinner and you just have to reserve upon checking in. It's quite convenient for us, and the meals are satisfying.

The traditional Ryokan is comfortable, the restaurant food is delicious. Breakfast need to be reserved in advance. The location is very close to Sawando parking area for shuttle bus to Kamikochi. The private onsen is very good and they provide free coffee and tea & buscuits

Nothing except probably for the location as it a tad out of the way - but seriously, no complaints.

Excellent host - very family-like ambient and tried her best to please and fulfill our questions and requests. Both dinner and breakfast were well prepared and we had both hearty meals. As this was a very low visitation season, we were the only family there and trust was privileged enough to enjoy the serenity all by ourselves and we are thankful for the experience.

The downside would be the smell of kerosene and no skies equipment renting service.

The owner is very helpful and friendly although we check in late. Room was clean and tidy and spacious. Breakfast is very tasty neither Japanese style nor Western style. They provide Onsen pool facility which can be use privately for 30 minutes - superb. The view from the room and dinning is very beautiful. The dining hall have digital piano and my girl managed to play on it (upon permission from the owner).

A tiny inconvenience. We went during winter and the water pipe kinda froze up which caused the problem with bathroom drainage so it was quite a struggling, but the staff acknowledged the problem and fixed it in the next day. So personally I give them credit for that.

Good food. Very friendly owner and staffs. Their onsen booking system allowed you to have the whole bathroom to yourself so that was cool.

Bit too far from main tourist locations and price was expensive for what you get.

Rustic place set in a pretty forest mountain area. Bit hard to get to if you don't have a car and around an hour from the city centre of Matsumoto. Rooms were authentic feeling, very tiny bathroom, beds were comfortable, small rooms. There is a small bath but it wasn't very warm so didn't go in but it's there for guests which is nice.

It may be hard to find at night. Wasn't a great issue for me since I was driving though. As it is in almost kind of a nature reserve, you might find a bug or two in the room. It's not that the rooms are not clean, it just is a function of where Irodori is located.

It has a very homely feel - the host is ultra welcoming and helpful. It's a great base to explore Norikura, and is even convenient to get to Sawando Bus Terminal to explore Kamikochi (if driving). The futons were really comfortable - probably because you could add as many as you like! And the breakfast was awesome.

the shower in room was almost unusable - the watter pressure is minimal, and the temperature is either way to hot or cold as ice. Very limited options for dinner in the vicinity.

the box of the toilets and showers are small and low quality. The food was not tasty and the service in the restaurant was disappointing.

The owner of the place was very nice, and helped with all our requests. We liked that the bath allowed couples to bathe together. There is a possibility to eat there. The location is in the heart of the park.

Looks like owner managed property - you'll need to call out (not just press the buzzer) to reach out for assistance - I arrived ~8pm and they look to be already preparing to sleep in the room behind the counter. They were able to do check in and explain a few basic necessities so not much of an issue if you are just here to sleep.

Nice quiet location, parked right in front of the property. Don't think the host knew I was coming - had to call out and shout out for them. Turns out besides a couple, I was the only other guest there. Rooms are upstairs (no elevator), private onsen is downstairs (place a room number magnet on time slot board to book). Room looks recently remodelled so that's nice. Sleepwear and additional towels available.

Its raining on our first night , we had to shut the windows because too much insects going in. The room was a bit too suffocated because no air con. But the room was cool when we were able to open the window on the second night when no raining Have insect repellents for sale in the 24hour store ....but unluckily we knew it on the second day

The breakfast is great , both western and japanese style. MUST EAT. The staff is nice and helpful but she will off work after 8... Have a 24 hour store just 2min walk where you can find most of the basic needs Can see the stars on nice weather.

The onsen was enjoyable but set to a temperature somewhat too high (for me). The in-room bathrom was good, less modernized than we've ncountered in most Japanese hotels.

The guesthouse is convenently located few km off the main road between Takayama and Matsumoto. The location is on a countryside, close to Bandokoro falls, and within short drive from the Kamikochi reserve. The restoraunt on the facility is very nice. The breakfast was served at a chosen time (readymade, tasty, but less varied than buffet-style). The place has two onsens (which you have to reserve).

The ATM machine in town did not accept our Canadian bank cards, so be prepared with cash on hand as most establishments in the area only take cash.

First, let me say how kind were the staff. The owner went above and beyond, driving us to see the fireworks display for the New Year's celebration, and chauffeuring us to the nearest bus depot to catch a bus back to Takayama, thus saving us much time and energy. The cook at their adjoining restaurant was really wonderful, too. We really appreciated her cooking. Moreover, it's only a short 2k hike up to Mt Norikura base where one can downhill ski in the Japanese Alps or hike the trails. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay there.

before sleep I turned on the heater, but at 4 am suddenly goes off and the room feeling chilly

owner was super friendly and took me to Norikura tourist center. really helped it breakfast meccha oishikatta I want to hike to mt. norikura but unfortunately owner gave me advice about best time to go Norikura kogen. I will come again next year.

There was soap and shampoo feeders in bathroom but there’s no liquid in there!! I just recognized it when i’ve already taken a shower. I reserved japanese style room but when i arrived at midnight, i found there is no futon preparation

The place is run by a lovely lady, so helpful, kind and lovely. She went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. The room was absolutely phenomenal, real Japanese style regimen with such comfortables mattresses. The place has an in house restaurant. Very good food at affordable prices, breakfast was also extremely tasty, probably the best Japanese breakfast we had at any hotel. I highly recommend this place to anyone.
