Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaChange the food options. Have better lunch offerings. Make the rules of the pool clear before you enter.
As a family of four with a 2 year old and 4 year old, we were very comfortable at Irago for 4 nights. The breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent, with plenty to choose from (the food options didn't change, but we didn't get bored). The Onsen is beautiful and very family friendly - dads and sons in the pools together. Once you knew the rules of the pool, the swimming was excellent and even had a wading pool for the little one to play in - bring your floaties! The hotel offers an easy to book shuttle service to the surrounding area which was fun to check out. The nearby beach is gorgeous but has extreme waves and undertow. Was a perfect break from the big city trip to Japan

JapanThe serving staff at the food counter are unfriendly . The line to wait to get the food is a little disappointing. Our table was set near the staff where they put the used tray and plates they just throw things there aggressively.
The staff counter help us so much with our trouble on our booking issue.

GermanyThe hotel is very popular with Japanese families. So, if you have (small) kids, this is the place worth considering. Besides, the view from the outside pool of the onsen over Koijigahama Beach and sea around Kamishima Island is just .... nice.

JapanMoldy smell in hall way to the room but the the room itself the air was very clean and nice. The hotel is on a hill for the great views, so if you want to go to the beach it’s a 20 minutes hike, in summer very hot so it would be nice if there are shuttle buses to the beach. The pool opening hours are a bit short.
Big Breakfast, water sever (eco friendly), upgraded our room for free, amazing views from room and onsen, bar with drinks in lobby (pay extra), friendly staff, pool is clean and fun, shuttle bus from Toyohashi station, view platform on the rooftop for great sunsets and sunrises

United KingdomIt was unclear how to reserve private bath area. Maybe I missed some information as not everything had English translation. Small bathroom area and towels were really thin. Maybe more sun beds around the pool area would be welcoming to guests.
Newly renovated so bedroom, dinner no area and reception area were very modern.

JapanThe staff does not have bilingual ability. You have to pay extra for children's play room and facilities. In house meals are focused on Japanese cuisine. We were especially disappointed in the breakfast - with very little choice for a western pallet (normal eggs, bread, cereal, fruit was not available)
The rooms have a beautiful view. The hotel's interior is clean and smart looking. It was a great size room for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children). Our main reason for visiting was the pool and we were not disappointed. The children's pool is shallow and safe with a slide that slides down into the water. The outside area is kept clean.

SwitzerlandThe rooms are renovated and very comfortable, but the bathrooms (toilet and shower) are horrible! Too small, very old, just overpainted. As well the old windows should be replaced. We also have to mention the surroundings. It looks more like a jungle. They definitely need to hire a gardener.
Fully renovated dining area, outdoor pool, rooms and several public areas. The view from the hotel was simply amazing!

AustraliaThe room itself was a little old, but since we spent so little time there, it hardly mattered. The quality of the rest of the hotel made the room irrelevant
The room itself was average inside, but had amazing views - but what makes this hotel so special is the amazing baths, and the fabulous meals The baths are on the top floor and have panoramic views of the ocean and night sky. There is an outdoor infinity-edge bath - perfect for watching the stars and light house at night; as well multiple indoor baths and spas and saunas. For dinner, it is a buffet, which doesn't sound fantastic and yet it was. There were at least 8 chefs on hand to cook dishes to your specification, and the choice was phenomenal. Plus, all we could drink for 2000y.

The location of the hotel is great, wonderful views of the ocean. Even from the outdoor pool of the onsen. The breakfast is very rich. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We also used the transfer to the train station. Very convenient.
