Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThe way you access the place is pretty unclear, since I had to retry multiple times until the PIN code opened the door, and the door itself unlocks for 1 second. The dormitory itself is clean but I stumbled upon a leaking pipe next to my bed which was not what I expected. Only one shower and to access it you gotta go across a kitchen. No real main room to speak of, so to exchange with guests you will hang out in the kitchen.
Close to useful spots such as the subway, a shopping steet, and nice restaurants. Clean enough.

CanadaThe facility is on the budget too. there wasn’t any light at the front door, if you check in late, it’s hard to find it, annual doubt if it is closed or not because there’s no light at all. Full with kitchen smell. It’s a gender mixed hostel, you can’t expect too much with the budget. But I wouldn’t expect to you as staff at all. It’s not very helpful. When you look at the picture, it will say it’s a Japanese style, with wooden floor and wooden bed. But if you think carefully, it is a hostel with lots of people, when people moving around, going up and down the bed, you will hear all the noise. Well, I mentioned they are on budget, I mean the air circulation is bad, AC wasn’t on when I got there not even the first floor, which is the lobby or the common area the kitchen. The window as old style, you can hear everything from street. But it’s a hostel after all, you can’t expect anything. Good luck on your stay.
Good price. The facility have all the basic thing you need. If you travel solo and on a budget, it will save you lots of money.

United StatesLike most hostels, some of the other people staying there had absolutely no consideration of others. I don’t understand how people can stay in hostels and somehow think they are the only ones there. People rent beds to sleep…. But there’s Always someone who doesn’t seem to care and wakes everyone up by being very loud very early in the morning. Very inconsiderate and Lame! Obviously this is not the facilities problem, but a problem with people who can not think. The futons were a bit thin like many Japanese hostels.
Nice big shower and tub, although there is only 1. So you may be waiting for a while to shower. Full kitchen with nice table. Waking up to the smell of fresh donuts was very very nice!

AustraliaThe downside of any public hostel is someone may snore in your room. I’m a light sleeper so I recommend ear plugs.
The design of the place was very cute and the staff were very friendly.

GermanyThe kitchen was not very clean or organised, would have wished for some more things like tea, salt and pepper (as we europeans are used to) The door on the first floor (Luna or Lana) is squeeky as you enter and leave the room. Also the sink where you wash your hands and brush your teeth is an open room and facing towards the bedroom. So whenever someone used the water its quiet loud and depending on how much noise the individual makes it can be annoying.
The stay was good and the check in really easy. I arrived very late and was happy about the implemented system. The bed was comfortable and the place had great wifi. Bathtub and shower are there, washing machine and kitchen as well.

ItalyThe general level of cleaning was a little below my standards, a lot of hair and dust around. There was not space to store my bag, except than on the ground. The bed was quite uncomfortable with a very thin matress (maybe this is just the japanese style to which I'm not used).
Very close to Sannomiya center, handy to hang out.

United KingdomThe 5pm check in is so late. I feel like it could be earlier since the check out is 10am. It’s hard for travellers who arrive in the morning
Lovely little hostel met some amazing people. It’s super clean and really homely, the kitchen is well equipped. Super clean felt right at home, it’s just minutes walk from the trains so really easy to get around Kobe from here. Would definitely recommend!

United KingdomThe stairs up. The unclearness of whether one could sit without checking from others. Not realising who was staff n who wasn’t. 2 nd night thought only person in. The video to watch via YouTube nt a fan- but think it’s personal.
The welcome I got once I found it. Close by so many stations n walkable from the main station. Close to the harbour n the most expensive shops. Without one knowing. The donut smell that wakes one up. The welcome ones there- even walked to be shown places to eat.

ChinaThe hostel may not be that economic during holidays and weekends; weekdays would be better. Besides, for the self check-in system at the entrance, it was still quite hard to operate although Sei gave detailed instructions in advance...
The owner Sei was pretty kind, who replied message online in time, and could speak and switch between Chinese, English and Japanese freely. Fortunately I met and had a very nice chat with Sei and (probably?) her father, who gave me helpful suggestions on tourist attractions both in Kobe and Osaka. Also the hostel's location is quite good, which is in the vicinity of Kobe Station. Would stay the next time I travel to Kobe.
