Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

TaiwanIt’s a bit small of so many people, and only one toilet. Not a big problem. Also amazing how can everyone be well with each other.
This is a lovely place, with a lot of other people to stay in this house. We can cook, we can make friends. The owner is very friendly and helpful. I think this is a perfect place for anyone who is lonely at the moment, it feels warm and feels like home.

MalaysiaRoom for 4 is a bit too small - we had to leave our luggage outside the room (it's very safe!). As there's only 1 bathroom, you need to plan and book your bathing times - which is not a big deal for us. Wifi is a bit weak in the room but fine in the common area.
Homely guesthouse owned by an elderly couple, mainly managed by the wife. Mrs Imodango is very welcoming and warm, making sure we are comfortable during our stay. Although common area is small, it makes it easier to connect with other guests to exchange travelling tips and stories.

AustraliaWhat a wonderful host, helped me with bicycle issues, drove me to the freight company to ship some of my luggage, then drove me to the station to make sure I could get a ticket with my bicycle. Very kind lady, please consider staying only 10 mins drive out of town 😀

CanadaIt's on farmland, which is wonderful in some ways, but isolated and far from amenities.
The woman who runs the guesthouse was very welcoming and helpful. The farmland location was quiet and beautiful, lots of singing birds, the silo with a tree growing in it was picturesque, the outdoor wood-heated bath was great.

CanadaIt's out in country fields, which is an advantage (pretty)and a disadvantage ( far from everything.)
The hospitality and eficiency of the woman who manages the house. The farmland location; plowed fields, foxes, singing birds. The order and neatness of the accomodations. The old silo with the tree growing out of it. The outdoor bath≥

CanadaLocation is perfect to get away from everything. Rural and peaceful. Wonderful little place. Friendly owners who had local suggestions. Make sure you have a car and drive around Abashiri. So many museums to go to! Loved sleeping in the attic loft space with futon beds. Perfect for a change of pace. Definitely coming back.

United KingdomBit of a trek from central Abashiri, and just be aware the buses/trains are not that frequent. No divisions between beds

SwitzerlandThis has nothing to do with the Farm & Inn, but important to know if you travel by public transportation. Trains and busses don‘t go regularly, so you need to plan your trips to Abashiri or Shiretoko National Park - or rent a car.
It is very remote (15-20min walk from Masuura station) on a hill overlooking the Shiretoko mountains and the sea below. You sleep in the attic of an old farmhouse that you share with other people. Important to know: There‘s no food or meal provided, you have to bring your own. It is ideal to relax and recover. A very scenic and beautiful area with a lot of culture to see in Abashiri (Abashiri Prison, Hokkaido Museum of Northern people, Drift Ice Museum).

Booked last minute and had a wonderful if too short stay! The host was very helpful and nice, even with a slight language barrier. The room was comfortable and came with yukatas (which no other hostel style place on our trip provided!).

SpainNothing in particular. Just be careful about the bus schedules if you plan to walk there.
It might be a little hard to access by walking, but the location is really beautiful, so as long as you can plan around the bus schedules, I think it's really worth the effort (beware, Google Mpas doesn't seem to have the most up to date schedules, I'd suggest asking in Abashari's tourist office about them). The hosts were really friendly, and they made an effort to make conversation and suggestions about what to see in the area. They also offered a ride to Abashiri JR Station the day of my check-out, free of charge. The house interior is full of little figurines, pictures and paintings, and the pastures outside offer a great view, you really feel surrounded by nature. I'm really glad I was able to spend a couple of days here :)

JapanThe quality of sleep depends on how quietly your neighbors sleep.
I enjoyed the atmosphere where guests feel free to start conversations with each other about their journeys, as this farm-inn is located in the midst of popular destinations.

United KingdomThe only downside was the location for me since I used public transport. Not an issue for people with their own mode of transport. There is a train station nearby but the road up the the house is inclined, windy and has no pavement, so not ideal to navigate with a heavy suitcase. I tried to arrange a pickup from the station in advance but didn't get a reply until after my stay was over. Not a big issue for me in the end but worth considering if you're also using public transport.
I really enjoyed the experience. It was a lot more intimate than many of the other accommodations on my trip and a very good price. Also some of the comfiest futons I've slept on since arriving in Japan.

JapanThe futon only does so much to cushion the hardwood floor, sleeping was a little uncomfortable. Beware of arriving in the dark. The road up, while short, is twisty, steep and very dark at night.
I travelled alone and booked a futon in the dormitory. The staff were wonderful, super friendly and understanding but firm with the rules and boundaries - this is their home after all. It was close to the railway station, it was warm and clean, there's a shared bath and bathroom that's always clean and a comfy communal space.
