Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanThe bed was comfortable but a little small for a tall person such as me (190cm). It's possible the room was once a smoking room. I used the provided air freshener each time I entered the room. The buffet breakfast was fine for having a good, solid meal, but the selection was limited.
I was attending the Star Wars Celebration at Makuhari Messe. The Chiba Port Plaza hotel is in an excellent location for this, taking less than 10 minutes on the train to Kaihimmakuhari station (and the hotel is only 3mins walk from Chibaminato station). The staff were very polite and helpful, and the hotel very clean. The shower was fantastic! Good pressure and water volume.

ItalyI would stay again at this hotel, so these are all small things that didn't impact my overall stay, especially given the price. Here are a couple of suggestions of possible things to improve: - the fridge was turned off when I got into the room, and I quickly understood why. When turned on, it is very noisy. - there's only one pillow on the bed. It would have been nice to have two - no safe in the room :-/ - the vending machines downstairs need some convincing, haha. Most of the time I wanted a drink, I had to touch my IC card 10-15 times and, after being "denied" transactions all those times, it would eventually work - the WC/toilet itself is a bit outdated, and what I thought was weird is that the "wand cleaner" button, which was supposed to be there (based on the instructions right above the panel, inside the bathroom), had been removed, so you couldn't clean the wand :-/. I still think it cleaned itself once in a while, based on the noises, but it would have nice to be able to do it. - the room was mostly clean, but I did find a hair attached to the handle of the bathtub and there was quite a lot of dust in the vents (but once again, given the price and the location, it's to be expected) - bad coffee at breakfast (though the food is good!) - If you want to get some takeout for lunch or dinner, be aware that there aren't many options. But this is not the hotel's fault: it's just that there isn't much in the Chibaminato area
I stayed at this hotel when I went to an event at Makuhari Messe. It's only a few stops away on the Keiyō Line and it was so much cheaper than the hotels in the Makuhari area. I'm very happy with my choice as, why my friends who stayed in Makuhari reported endless queuing for the check-in, rooms that smelled of smoke and other things like that, I had no such issues and actually had a very nice stay at Port Plaza Chiba :-) The staff is exceptionally nice! The reception people are warm and friendly and you can tell they care about you. They also speak English. Even the cleaning staff and the people at breakfast were super nice. Staff-wise, it was the best experience I had out of the 4 hotels I've been in Japan during this trip. There is a bathtub in the room, the bed is very comfortable, the view from the window is lovely, and the hairdryer worked amazingly well, given the different plugs in Japan! The room itself was big: I could open both big suitcases I had with no problems. There are also some nice toiletries that I liked, and I loved how quiet it was (when the noisy fridge was turned off). Every night, I slept very very well. The subway station is right next to the hotel, on the other side of the road, which makes it a fantastic location if you need to travel to other areas of Chiba. I would definitely stay again!

United KingdomThe main issue was the staff were not particularly helpful or friendly. In particular the restaurant staff seemed quite lazy. I asked for a glass of water on a few occasions, and it took me around three asks for them to finally give me one. Which seems a bit ridiculous. Particularly since they were doing nothing particular at that moment, except scrolling in their phones.
The location next to the subway station was quite convenient. The Internet connection was generally fast and stable.

United StatesThe only thing I didn't like was how small the room was, but for only one person it's ok. Plus as long as you are out of the room more than in the room it is ok.
It looked very lavish. Room was clean and it had a very nice view. Staff was very helpful when I had trouble finding the building. There was a refrigerator in the room. Microwave and ice are available, just on a different floor.

PhilippinesThe room was not thoroughly cleaned when I checked in. The housekeeping staff missed a corner. It was soiled with crumbs and aluminum wrapper.
Just beside Chibaminato and Chiba Monorail stations. The room is spacious. The lounge sofa. The wonderful view of the harbor. There is also a quiet (not chaotic) bus terminal just beside the hotel going to Chiba station and Tateyama. A mini-mart, drugstore and bakery inside the train station.
