Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt's a little distant from the centre of Kobe, but there are two metro stations nearby so you can still arrive there within 15 minutes. The showers are small, and the shower curtain kept blowing inwards!
Super comfortable bed, lovely cafe area at the front, clean facilities and quirky decor! The staff are especially kind, and helped me when I wasn't feeling well!

Indiasometimes even the staff is unaware of many facilities there as they are mostly volunteers. overall there is a cramped feeling to the common area.
We were 2 people and even though they say its in a 4 bunk bedded dorm, it sort of was a room for us, with only a hole in the wall seperating it from the other room and making it a one full dorm. there was ample space inside the room and we lived there comfortably for 6 nights. very near to a metro station and there is a familymart just opposite.

United StatesThe room's were a bit awkward for solo travelers since it is just one single bunk bed in each room. so you're a bit intimate with your roommate. There is also a hole carved through the wall that connects with the other room. It is like a strange window low to the ground that you could easily walk through if you wanted to say hello to your neighbors. It's a good place for if you're with others especially if you know the people next door could be fun but I felt a little exposed as a solo female traveler.
The staff was very friendly and helpful in navigating everything. Plus it was close to the station and near some good food options!

United KingdomPrivate toilets would be the only thing I could think of to improve the experience, but to be honest it wasnt a problem, and if you dont mind sharing some facilities its fine.
As we had booked the 2 larger rooms for myself & my family, we also had our own bathrooms, so only had to share toilets. The staff were very welcoming, and helpful, and as this was a hostel, there were good communal spaces we could all use, incouding the kitchen. This meant we could make snacks and breakfast etc, (which helps with keeping costs down) and lots of free tea & coffee! Excellent value for money compared to `budget` hotels which have no facilities.

Sri LankaLocated in an accessible part of the city. The place was clean, but having dedicated staff to always keep an eye out on cleanliness would’ve been better. Hot water in the showers are a gamble; sometimes there’s hot water, sometimes not.

United KingdomThe room itself was a decent size for a couple and had two comfortable chairs and a nice sized vanity table and mirror however the bed was hard and meant we had to layer blankets on top to soften it. The windows were thin and meant that we could hear the generator clearly from outside. There were also large marks and some holes in the walls.
We liked its unique interior and outdoor spaces. The space was clean and funky and it was a bit different from what you’d expect in Japan, which is fun.

New ZealandSomething to be aware of, is that the hostel is located pretty close and next to some red light district establishments. It did not feel unsafe. The bed was very uncomfortable.
Great common areas, clean bathrooms and kitchen. The decorations are beautiful. The subway station is super close which was great.

United Statescommunication. check in isn't until 4. i sent a message using this app asking if i could leave my luggage and nobody responded. there is a phone at reception to call for help, but both days i tried it didn't work. while it was frustrating and felt hopeless, i would still stay again and can easily recommend it. not at all social while i was there. this place has so much charm and thoughtfulness in details. i really wanted to learn more about it and the folks behind it.
super cute accommodations and a great kitchen and lovely shared common spaces. it was close to trains in a neighborhood that didn't feel super touristy, which i appreciated. there are helpful notes around everywhere, which is great. the water pressure was excellent and i had no trouble with hot water, which i noticed in another review. oh and the pillow was amazing!

FranceLike many japanese houses, you will hear other people.
I was not expecting to have such a big and cosy room when I booked it. The room had a double-bunk bed. It also had a small area with a sofa and table. It felt like home. There are clothes strings outside so you do not need to use the drier after washing them.

New ZealandStayed in the double room with private shower room - bathroom in the room is very old & emitted a mouldy smell (may be inevitable part of the older building)
Characterfully-aged accommodation in Kobe, loved the deco & personal touches around the accommodation. Shared kitchen & cafe on site. Staff were very friendly. Suited for travellers on a budget with an appreciation for a homely aesthetic , not for those looking for a flash, new place. Family mart is just across the road.

DenmarkYou could hear EVERYTHING that went on outside the room. With the common area/kitchen out there, it meant people were hanging out in the evening.
A friend recommended this hostel, and I was not disappointed. It has such a great atmosphere and the decor is so cute. My bed was huge! And the room was light and nice. I did wish there was more hooks and shelves for storage in the room. The area is pretty nice, and public transport is close by.
