Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandVery nice hostel with a friendly social vibe. Big lounge to hang in as well as a rooftop. The beds and everything is comfortable. The owner is very friendly and helpful, he will go out of his way to ensure you have a great stay. He dropped me off at the bus, and also gave free access to the bicycles and snorkeling gear which made exploring the area that much better. Thanks for having me!

AustriaI have to give Ryota, the host of Ryukyu Guest House, such incredible praise. What he has built up on his own and how he treats the guests is just incredible! I have never been to a better and so familiar accommodation. Ryota takes care of all the concerns you have and is just a really sweet and nice person. About the hostel: There's one common room with a nice comfy couch, a quite well equipped kitchen and a big dining table. There is a big, private shower and you can use washing machine and dryer for free! Because it is a music hostel, there are all kinds of instruments, which you can play at anytime. Downstairs are the bunk beds which are incredibly comfortable and the AC cools the whole room down to an acceptable temperature (speaking for the summer). Outside there is a big table, usually used for chatting or eating. The same goes for the rooftop, where you can sit down and relax as well. It's located quite close to the castle ruins (which is a beautiful spot for watching the sunset!) and you can reach everything else pretty easily as well because: You can borrow bicycle for free! Rent a scooter for 500 Yen a day! And rent cars for not too much as well! Yomitan is amazing for diving and snorkeling and if you shouldn't have snorkeling equipment, don't worry, because you can borrow that too for free! If you have any questions about where to go and what to do, just ask Ryota, he knows the best places. One thing that makes it even better, is the freshly made and free breakfast that you get every morning! It is so good! If you are began or vegetarian, just tell Ryota and he'll think of it when making your breakfast. Especially if you want to meet new people and make friends, this is the perfect place to go. Most guests are Solo-travellers and are open for conversations. I had the pleasure to meet some amazing people! All in all, it's just an amazing place to stay and I can recommend it to any traveller that comes to Okinawa.

NetherlandsI didn't have more time to stay
The atmosphere is really welcoming and relaxt, Ryota does an amazing job of making the place comfortable. Great value for money. Very very clean, which is a tough job with all the humidity. The beds are sturdy frames that don't move around when people do, with curtains and each their own dimmable light. Plenty of space in the rooms. It's small scale with a total of only ten beds divided over two dorms, four female dorm beds and six mixed dorm beds. Perfect size in my opinion. The car rental is very cheap for what you get. Free bikes to use. The Yomitan peninsula has some very nice beaches and places to visit. Highly recommend.

GermanyI had an amazing stay at this place! While the location is a bit off the beaten path, it’s absolutely not an issue – the host is happy to pick you up if you let him know. The area is wonderfully quiet, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The breakfast was by far the best I’ve ever had at a hostel – freshly prepared and absolutely delicious! There are also free bicycles and snorkeling gear available, which added so much fun to the experience. There are also various musical instruments available to play, which I thought was a really nice touch. The host is super friendly, always available, and incredibly helpful. There's a fully equipped kitchen for cooking, a laundry area, and a supermarket just a 12-minute walk away. All in all, a fantastic experience – I’d definitely love to return someday!

Laosnothing I didn't like the castle was just so so nothing really spectacular but a nice outing by foot. Thanks to the great directions again from the owner
very surprised the owner picked me up at the bus station at night breakfast was delicious beds were comfortable loved the deck peace and quiet is a music hostel but very quiet nothing too noisy owner very friendly filled me in on the details great customer service loved the place would highly recommend The owner dropped me off at a convenience store and recommended that I buy Sushi. For 12,000 yen I had at least 15 pieces. So delicious. I ate on the deck and savoured every mouth full. Can't beat the price other restaurants charge 12000 yen for just 3:pieces. The owner dropped me off at a bus stop to go to my next place. Saw a sign after walking back from the castle. It was very clear and visible. All the travelers at the guest house were also very friendly Super customer service

New ZealandThat I had to leave it and come home.
Amazing people, and the most comfortable bed! This isn’t a little hostel it’s a community. There were multiple times that ex guests came back just to hang out and jam on the instruments or just talk. Was also the most comfortable mattress in Japan so far!!
