Minpaku Hiraizumi is fantastic. Location is less than 10mins from Hiraizumi station and everything in the town is within walking distance, except for Takkoku-no-iwaya for which you can try public transportation or rent a bike near the station. The house is traditional Japanese but with modern amenities super nice and very comfortable. Room is spacious with an AC, remote controlled lights and a very comfortable futon bed. The couple living there is lovely and of a rare kindness, truly embodying Japanese hospitality. When I stayed there it rained all day and they game me a lift to Takkoku-no-iwaya by car, patiently waiting for me visiting the location. They prepare an amazing homemade traditional breakfast and were nice to chat with as well, available for anything I neeced. My time there was short but I can't recommend this place enough if you're in Hiraizumi.

Second time I went do Yamadas House. That time during autumn season to Fujiwara clan Matsuri. It is always a wonderful experience. The house is beautiful, a mix of traditional and technology, You must visit! Close to the station, you can walk to all main attractions of Hiraizumi. The omotenashi of Yamada's are incredible!

The best stay we had in Japan - the hosts are the nicest, really making this stay unforgettable. Breakfast was delicious. The room was super nice and spacious, and it's very close to the Motsuji temple. Thank you very much for everything!

Host was very helpful. Home cook breakfast was superb and delicious. When she found out we were going to Geibikei Gorge the next day, she voluntarily call them in the morning to check if the boat ride was still running that day since it had been raining heavily recently. Unfortunately, all boat rides were cancelled for the day. We saved a couple of hours it would have taken us to drive there. She suggested we visit some sites at Moriaka instead, which we did.

Everything was great and went beyond our expectations. We will for sure remember the kindness of our hosts, their warm welcoming, and the delicious breakfast. The accommodation itself is just magnificent, a true immersion in the Japanese daily life. Highly recommended, and I hope we'll be able to go back soon!

The host was absolutely wonderful, kind thoughtful, incredibly helpful especially for solo travelers. The breakfasts were delicious, what more can I say! As a hidden gem in the Tohoku region, I truly hope to visit again.
