Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesWe thought breakfast was included and we waited for over an hour in the morning to find out this was not included . We wished this had been told us the night before so we could have ordered it . I actually picked this hotel because of the reviews of the exceptional breakfast . I realize it was a misunderstanding on our part but wished I had of k own ahead of time .
Very traditional Japanese Ryokan. Staff is very helpful and friendly

BelgiumI've stayed in old japanese ryokans and of course the charm of the building is great. However, this one jn need of some maintenance and the smell of humidity/moisture really bothered me (staff was kind to change my room, the second one a little less stuffy than the first but still smelly), rooms not very bright, window opening to a back wall. Shared bathrooms never very clean for JP standards. Breakfast not great. Maybe I got the worst rooms, being a solo customer bur overall a huge disappointment.
Disappointing stay in this popular ryokan in Ise. Location is good (next to the station).

NetherlandsThe room had a little bit of a damp smell, but luckily the window could open to air it out.
I received a really spacious room with view of their indoor garden. The toilets, wash basins, and bath are shared, but there are various toilets in the building so there's never a wait. The futon and the pillow were so comfortable! Really enjoyed my time here.

SingaporeI suppose because it is an old establishment with quite a bit of history, so the insulation in the public areas aren’t that great. The public corridors were quite cold. But room was fine though.
Amazing location just beside the JR station, literally a minute’s walk from Iseshi station. We had a warm welcome from the staff and a friendly old lady brought us around the ryokan to introduce all the facilities. Room was clean and spacious and the heating worked well inside. Free laundry facilities were fantastic! They use it for their own hotel laundry too so plenty of machines to go around. The hot bath area was a godsend amidst the cold snap when we were there. It was small but there was no one when I used it so I practically had the whole place to myself! Would definitely stay again if we ever go back to Ise!

United StatesThere was nothing I didn’t like, but people with issues getting up off the floor might have some difficulty, as the seating and futon are low.
This is a beautiful old building that has been lovingly kept up. The staff was lovely and helpful, and the location is perfect- close to the train station (buses also leave from here) and walking distance to shops, restaurants, and Ise Jingu Geku. Breakfast was delicious, the futon was comfy, and there is a public bath if you want to try this ( I was nervous, but I’m glad I did). It was great to experience staying in a traditional ryokan. I would definitely stay here again.

The ryokan is less than 1 min walk from the JR station and 5mins from Ise Shrine (outer). This is a ryokan with over 100yrs of history. The room is large and the staffs are very friendly. The breakfast was great. The bath was also very enjoyable especially after a day of walking.

TaiwanAs the heating doesn’t seem to be available 24 hours on the hallway. For guests who may need to use the restroom or take a bath during the night, it’s a good idea to dress warmly before stepping out of the room.
This hotel is a hidden gem, conveniently located just a 3-minute walk from the station—perfect for travelers who value easy access. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive. For guests who don’t speak Japanese, they’ve thoughtfully prepared a clear A4 instruction guide, which is a wonderful touch. Amenities are plentiful and readily available at the front desk, adding to the convenience. Upon check-in, a friendly staff member guides you to your room, which feels like stepping back in time to 1930s Japan. The traditional architecture is charmingly nostalgic, while the facilities are modern and up to date, blending the best of both worlds. The bath area is clean, quiet, and perfect for unwinding after a long day. Overall, this hotel offers a unique and comfortable stay—I highly recommend it.

ThailandBecause It’s a 90+ years wood building so, when someone walk on the wood floor you can feel and hear every steps. There is no elevator. There are many spider web (not in the room) and there are insect in my room 🥹.
The staff is so kind and helpful. The room is big and comfortable. The futon is really great. The location is the best. Near Iseshi station and bus stop, able to walk to Ise Jingu (Geku).

FranceI don't remember to see a shower, so you've got to go to the sento. It's an experience I am ok with, but if you didn't expect it, maybe it's good to know.
The place is located near the train station but it was calm and we didn't hear anything. It's really typical and the experience to be in a labyrinthic ryokan was really enjoyable. The sento is small but nice. You can play ping-pong or be in a massage chair. The owner even gave us towels to stay fresh during the hot summer ; they also took our luggage before and after our stay.
