I will say as it's an old wooden building, sounds are quite echoey but I slept great and had no issues.

The best value accomodation I got whilst walking the Kumano Kodo! It was super clean, I got my own bathroom and the hosts had thought of everything you could need. Helpful signs everywhere and optional free bike rental! Great location near restaurants and you could even do laundry.

It's a cosy, charming home, located along a quiet street. There were some snacks and drinks available for free, which I appreciated after a long hike. I managed to get an incredibly refreshing night's sleep here.

Booked a family room although i am solo travelling due to availability, the room far exceeded my expectations, very spacious, comfortable and clean, cozy sofa with tv on youtube, more than enough amenities to suit your needs, provides free wine and sake with snacks (i did not drink any though) which is a huge plus, slight walk of around 15 minutes from Shingu station, price is very acceptable for what i experienced

It listed a private bathroom, but I only had a toilet. The bath was shared. I was not able to get the hot water to work.

Very nice base for a short stay (had whole house to ourselves so relaxed fully). Traditional Japanese home with associated facilities. Care that you identify the property (one side of road, while they also have a sign on the other indicating an available parking area).

The shop owners are an elderly couple who are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Staying here feels just like being at home. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, with all the necessary amenities. The husband even told us to feel free to drink as much wine as we like. The kitchen is fully equipped. This is a warm and cozy place where you'd want to stay forever.

The property was really cozy. Room was in the perfect size with toilet. The kitchen was well equipped, alko and oranges including. The bathroom was common but clean and comfortable. What’s more - the neighbourhood was scenic.

The soundproofing is not very good, so if your neighbor is loud, it might affect your stay. We didn't have a problem with this (and the whole area is otherwise very quiet).

A great place to stay when exploring Kumano Kodo. All our requests were filled - and more! The owner is great, the room (the smaller room) is very cozy and we slept well on the tatami + mattresses. Even when it was cold outside, the AC/heater kept the room warm, and there was multiple blankets to use as well. Everything, including the room and the shared areas, were super clean and nice! Thank you!

The hallways and the stairs are narrow, I can't recommend it if you have a huge luggage because it'll be hard to bring up to the 2nd floor. I was only staying one night so I decided to leave my luggage downstairs.

I like this small home and I wished I stayed for a few more days. It's cozy and homey, I didn't meet the owners but just the small whiteboard during check-in felt very welcoming. It's clean with complete amenities, and there's a whole kitchen with stuff that you can eat or use. The room and the bed was already prepared, it was very comfortable. Also, there is an izakaya right in front called Kichi. It's easy to find, just look for the tanuki and they are open until late. Highly recommend that you try it if you're staying here.

The stay here was wayyyy above expected. The host confirmed our arrival prior to our trip and waited in the hostel for our Arrival and introduced us. There was a kitchen, complementary drinks, free Mikan (super delicious) The room was cozy will absolute stay here again if I had the chance to re-visit Shingu

There is an izakaya right across the street - easy access for food! Though sometime, there were loud people outside.

Well located guesthouse, with easy self check-in process. The room was clean, the kitchen well organized, and the bathroom and shower also nice. I also enjoyed the free mikan :)
