The communication with the host was brilliant. Location was perfect and the accommodation was excellent. There's lots of lovely little shops by the place including several where you can buy some simple food supplies if needed.

There wasn't anything to dislike, but some might be disappointed about the lack of nighttime activities. That being said, this is located in a scenic town out in the mountains so temper your expectations.

The location is beautiful, so make sure you have enough phone memory or photographic film. The host, Kenta, was super cool, if he offers a meal definitely take him up on it. We got lucky and were able to try bear meat since he had caught one in the mountains before we arrived!! Lastly, the property was very spacious and comfortable but still fit the traditional atmosphere of the town. The room we slept in had tatami flooring and a sliding wall closet, that paired with the quiet and traditional atmosphere of the town reminded me of some older anime I watched, which was really cool. Specifically, the water wheels made me think of Hinamizawa from the series 'Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni'. The town is very safe though, unlike the anime.

The location is unbeatable. The accommodation is traditional but very comfortable. We were very happy that coffee and tea we're provided and very pleased to be able to do our laundry.

If there was any minor negative it was only that it did not have a TV.

The property is right in the middle of Magome village so perfectly located. It was clean, very spacious and had kitchen facilities so one could make one’s own food or breakfast is desired. I would certainly recommend this as an excellent place to stay.

Our host was very friendly and welcoming. This spacious apartment is right on the Nakasendo trail in Magome. It's a steep walk up from the bus stop. We were tired from traveling and were happy to enjoy a wonderful meal in the room. Our host cooked a tasty vegetarian meal and animatedly described the area. We conversed in Japanese. The apartment is quiet with lovely sounds of babbling water. We slept comfortably on futons. It wasn't a problem for us, but if you do have elderly travelers, please note that the bedroom is up a flight of stairs.

Perfect location, the host was very kind and friendly. The dinner at the guesthouse was one of the best we've had so far in Japan (one of the dishes was wild boar and venison). The guesthouse is very spacious and right in the middle of the village.

Amazing to sleep in the heart of magnificent Magome. The host extremely helpful with everything: facilitating luggage drop-off in the morning and arranging dinner reservation in a fantastic restaurant.

Beautiful home right on the Nakasendo trail. Delighted to have Yuji host us. Yuji is a very accomplished and interesting, hunter, chef, conversationalist- who can converse in multiple languages, and more. We had a delicious dinner of roasted game meat-wild boar and deer, followed by shabu-shabu and mochi ice cream. Our stay was warm and comfortable, giving us our best sleep ( it was 30*F that night). For those thinking twice because of the “shared” bathroom, please don’t. There are two toilet rooms and a shower room- the privacy level was high. I cannot encourage you enough, to enjoy this gracious accommodation. Thank you, Yuji!

Nothing beats being in the heart of this wonderful quaint town of Magome and the Guesthouse is situated within the lovely pedestrian street. Starting the Nakasendo hike to Tsumago-Juku from thereon was a breeze and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. Nothing was too much to ask for during our stay (including assistance with driving to a parking lot near the Guesthouse and helping with our somewhat large-sized suitcases, thank you). We had a fulfilling dinner served in the comfort of our accommodation and all of us raved about the comfortably warm futon beds. It was also convenient to have a washer/dryer after a day of hiking. Thank you for a wonderfully memorable stay in a beautiful small town.

Extremely thoughtful and kind host, beautiful and well-equipped space, and stunning location. Morning coffee on the balcony with that gorgeous view of the mountains was simply wonderful. Magome and Guesthouse Yanagiya was our favourite part of the whole Japan trip. Many thanks to the owner and host, - we hope to return again :)

This was an amazing place to stay in a very pretty village. The unit was quite large and when we arrived the host made us feel very at home. He helped us secure a reservation at a nearby restaurant for dinner and it turned out fabulous. For breakfast, he provided food for us as many places in the village are closed during the winter off season. The lodging was exactly as described and shown in the listing, very clean, spacious, and had very fast wi-fi. If anyone finds themselves wanting to stay overnight in Magome, I would highly recommend it.　素晴らしいお泊りありがとうございました！

The location of the accommodation is excellent. It is in the middle section of Magome-juku. The scenery is beautiful, and it is particularly quiet at night. It's also very easy to find. The dinner reserved was a pleasant surprise. It included wild boar and deer he caught in the forest. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious. my little daughter couldn't stop praising it. The host is really good at cooking. The host was very kind, and we had a really enjoyable chat. we really enjoyed our stay there, fully recommended!！！！
