The host grandma is super friendly, the room was above and over my expectations, I can even see the ocean and sunrise from the room. The room is super clean and set up comfortably. The bathroom and sink, and toilet is shared, but it is super clean, and is equipped with all the essentials, such as shower and bath wash, toothbrush, lotion, hair brush, and more. And there is also a microwave and a kettle for use. The location is great, right around the corner from the station, and really close to the beach and shore too. Highly recommend for the price, great for solo travel.

I almost never leave reviews, but I had to make an exception for this place — it’s a true hidden gem that everyone should know about. It was by far my favorite accommodation during my one-month trip in Japan. It feels like staying at your grandma’s house — warm, peaceful, and full of charm. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, and having a private room at the end of my trip (instead of dorms) was such a treat — especially since the price is pretty much the same. The owner is kind and helpful, the bathroom gives off Studio Ghibli vibes, and the futon on tatami was more comfortable than any other I tried in Japan. I absolutely loved my stay and highly recommend this place!

Close to train stations, the host is lovely and helpful, would have done anything to make the stay more comfortable. Onsen style bath was lovely. Can watch the sunrise over the ocean.

It hard to get to suitcases to the top floor, if you have larger bags.

The view was beautiful from my room. The rooms itself were very spacious, comfortable, and clean. It was plenty furnished with anything you need such as tables, chair, mirror, etc. I really enjoyed the space here. It felt as comfortable as your own home but with beautiful sights of Atami's charm. It was lovely. The staff was very nice and friendly as well, the location was great, and the water also tasted delicious.

Other guests were quiet and considerate so it is easy to relax here, but for context the walls were thin to the point that you can hear other people coughing lightly. The morning was loud with the staff waking up people to check out in time. I was still adjusting to the time zone and was quite sleep deprived not being able to sleep all night, but was also woken up on accident to check out too even though I was supposed to check out the next day. It seems my check-out date was mistaken. Also luggage storage is listed as an amenity, but in reality, that isn't the case. It seems to depend on if there is space and how many guests are currently staying here.

The cozy, clean and comfortable japanese style house! The host is really helpful!! Helped us to close the window because we are cold. She waited us to come back during the night time before she went to sleep. Even though she can barely speak English but she still making her effort to try to communicate with us. The room view can see the sunrise and it’s really beautiful!!

Everything is perfect!! Definitely will come back again!!

The lady who owns the Ryokan is very friendly and kind - she gave us snacks, water and an umbrella for the rain. We would stay again with her. - The futons are very comfortable and the room is traditional style with tatami and screens - Good facilities - Fridge in room, kettle/microwave/toaster oven available to use - Lots of toiletries and products free to use, so you can pack lightly - Location is good, only a short drive from the main town/station/attractions like the Atami plum garden - Only a 5 minute walk to the nearest convenience store - AC/heater and WiFi in room, work well - There is no curfew, you can come and go as you please

It is less like a Ryokan and more like staying at your grandmother’s house. So, it is cosy but the communal areas and hallways don't really look the same as the photos. - There was a cockroach running around our room. We managed to kill it, but it was stressful. - There is only one bath/shower to be shared between 11+ guests on our floor, and it had a lot of hair in it :( - There was no view from our windows, one was taped up, the other had metal shutters down.

The location was within walking distance to the train and bus stations, but it was an uphill to the house. Tap water is said to be directly from Mt Fuji. From the window we were able to see the sea a bit so the sea view is not bad.

The room was very dusty, and all of our noses reacted to it. We could see a lot of dust every time we moved around. A thick dust layer was also accumulated at the window panes. My friend couldn't take it and ended up borrowing a vacuum cleaner to vacuum the room ourselves. The staircase up was very narrow and it was a bit tough for us to go up even with our small luggage.
