There was a smell in the room but I think it was from the tatami, and its not strong enough to bother me too much. It was a hassle to climb the stairs to the third storey, but I think it is to be expected in arima onsen area, where the whole place is hilly and takes some time to hike. The bathroom with a shower was on the ground floor which made us have to climb down for a shower, and there were some dead flies on the floor.

I loved the room, it really has Japanese vibes although it is still a western style room. We had a good view of the other houses and a shrine from our window! It also faces the sunset. I was concerned about the shared toilet but it turned out to be really clean and it is almost always empty anyway. The room was very clean and the facility has a water cooler on the ground floor. The staff was very polite and helpful. I loved that we got yukata (?) to wear, and we took it to wear back from the onsen. Very close to gin no yu!

If you're a light sleeper you'll want to bring earplugs as you can easily hear noises outside and from the other floors. I also found the bed mattress a little too indented from previous guests, but my preference has always been a firm mattress!

Very friendly and kind staff, and a super clean guesthouse! Even though the bathrooms are shared (sort of like a hostel) I never had any issues needing to use the washroom or shower.

This was our first rycon stay in Japan. The hospitality, food, and location to onsen surpassed all expectations. I plan to return. Highly recommend it!

Be prepared shared bathroom, shower and toilet. No wash facilities in the room. However, all very clean still.

Local Japanese breakfast is very nice- both in presentation and taste. Calming ambience in the breakfast room. Very neat room and clean throughout. Local onsens less than 5mins away.

There wasn’t any coffee in the room but an easy fix following a trip to 7-11!

Was a nice spot to spend a few nights in this hot spring town - is just a few moments to walk up to Kin No Yu, and a few minutes down to Gin No Yu. Check in was really straightforward, and all the staff in the hotel were so friendly and welcoming. The bath and shower were very nice, and never had trouble getting access to the shared facilities.

The soundproofing is not strong, people up and about past midnight woke me up quite easily.

Toilet was one floor down, and showers on the ground floor. With the onsens in Arima being the main attraction, you might not need the shower, so that's actually a lesser problem.

It's right in the middle of Arima-onsen, with both Gin & Kin onsens nearby. The room we had was quite spacious. The breakfast was really good - Ryokan style.

Room is not soundproof. I was disturbed by other rowdy guests despite the warning given to all guests. I did not file a complaint.

Beware it is quite hard to get to the hotel if you have heavy luggages, lots of uphill roads and stairs.

Very helpful and friendly staffs. Room is well equipped with fridge, ipad-mini, TV etc. You'll be able experience the most calm and natural arima in the morning before tourists arrive.

Great traditional lodging with a very nice modern room in the middle of Arima Onsen. Small shops and restaurants at the doorstep. Super friendly staff giving great tips for the stay. Perfect japanese breakfast. If you walk from Arima Onsen station, it is a bit up the hill.

The water at the basins are not heated 🥲 Went during the winter so it was really cold. However, the baths had hot water.

Really clean. It is in the heart of Arimaonsen and hence is reachable to many places within a few minutes. The silver onsen is only one minute away! Staff ensured we had everything we needed. Extended one more night here because we were so comfortable.

Nothing. Didn't expect that it was Japanese dinner as we preferred Japanese dinner. Nevertheless it's a pleasant surprise. Note that there is no elevator and the rooms are from 2nd floor onwards.

Nice place to stay with helpful and friendly staff. The hotsprings are nearby by foot. Please remember to use a translator app or similar as it will help you to communicate with the staff since they mostly speak simple English.

You'll find them very friendly here, and seriously, the breakfast option is essential if you're a fan of traditional Japanese eating!
