Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing.
I love everything about this place—the location (just a short walk from Iseshi Station), the clean facilities, the friendly staff, and the peaceful atmosphere. They also offer a small piece of bread daily for just 100 yen each.

United StatesThe staff was so friendly (the first place in Japan I'd describe as "hippy vibes".) And Ise Jingu is incredible. I barely saw any foreign tourists... no idea why foreigners don't come here, it was maybe the highlight of my stay.

United KingdomNothing- it was perfect!
Staff were very welcoming and friendly! The location was perfect- close to the station and Ise Jingu outer shrine with plenty of choice of restaurants nearby. Having rental bikes available was ideal and they were very cheap to rent for the day. The design of the place was clean and comfortable but still had a nice quirky type of design. Loved that there was manga available to read in the kitchen area. I was sad we only stayed one night!

SingaporeThere's no real downsides. Maybe if you have a lot of luggage or a big bag. It might be difficult to carry up the narrow stairs. There's no real place to put it other than just outside your bed area or you can leave it at the counter. However, the counter is unmanned throughout the late night to morning.
I loved the interior design and atmosphere. The layout is great and cozy. There enough amenities such as microwave, fridges and hot water, along with a reading corner and nice view of the street. The staff and very friendly and approachable. There's really no downside to staying here as it's convenient, near to the station and Ise Jingu. I like that there's a personal storage box at each bed, a small shelf and a light. You can tell they really thought of the travelers needs. There's a lock on the front door with a passcode for late entry.

AustraliaCoffee had "run out". No soap in the toilet.
Well located. Close to the train station. Close to the mall. Close to the temple complex which is a lovely serene location of flower gardens, spring-fed ponds and ancient trees and of course the temples. We had a private bunkbed room which is on the ground floor and pleasant. I'm not into dorms anymore and from what I could see upstairs of the dormitory, it was definitely not my scene.

CanadaAn extra top sheet between me and the covered quilt would have been nice. It appeared that the douvet covering the quilt is not changed between guests. The room, like all Japanese Hosels is kept quite warm, so a sheet would allow for a cooler sleep.
I loved the architechture of the place. Very quaint. The common space was well equipped for cooking. Being 5 mins walk from one of the main shrines is also handy. A 25 min bus ride to the other large shrine. The beds were comfy and the cubby holes roomy. The available washing machine and roof top drying was also appreciated.

Cozy, warm, and it was like a tree house which has the first floor where people do their work or interactions and the second where people cook and sleep after going up the wooden spiral stairs. There were lots of places to eat, drink, and even hot springs within 10 min walk. Amazing

AustraliaThe guest room we stayed in was a bit too cramped. A booking for 3 adults landed us in a room with a bunkbed and a futon was provided for the third person to sleep on the floor. Not extremely uncomfortable, though tall people may struggle to sleep straight on the futon as there is not much floor space.
The gentleman at the service counter was very friendly and helpful. I had lost a personal belonging and needed to use a japanese landline phone to contact other hotels who would receive my personal belongings at a later date. The gentleman was kind enough to lend me the phone for as long as I needed and was able to assist in translating my questions to other japanese speaking people. The guest house is small and quiet, the upstairs kitchen has many ameneties, books, and board games. There is also a kettle, microwave, and freshly made breadrolls to purchase for only 100JPY, as well as free tea and water to fill up mugs provided by them.

AustraliaIt is a rather small space and it was hard to sleep due to other guests snoring, so maybe bring ear plugs. Also the conditioner bottle was empty.
A 5 minute walk from Iseshi Station. The staff, especially the staff member Mizuki, are incredibly kind and speak great English. The guest house has a small kitchen and free coffee, tea etc. There is also fresh bread for ¥100 that they get from a local bakery every night. If I ever come back to Ise I will definitely choose Guest House Kazami again!
