Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeFutons while comfortable were a bit on the thin side. Felt more of the wooden capsule flooring than the cushion. Servicable for the solo traveller on their short stay.
Guest House Megumi had a homely vibe. Like a host inviting you to have a stay with them for the night. Friendly staff, a great onsen and a beautiful view of the beach and bay made this stay very enjoyable.

FinlandFor my western back the futon was a tad too thin. Stairs, many of them to get up from beach, but still well worth the views you get (: There is no lockable locker (i think atleast i never got a key or shown one) not an issue for me but some people might want one?
It was overall extremely good, the owner even let cold water into the onsen for me as it was wayy too hot for me on the 3rd night. The rooftop views are amazing!

How close to the station, beach and other interesting stores. The staff was nice and didn't charge us for the 30 minutes pass our checkout time. We enjoyed the view while eating in the dining room. They keep tea and water in the fridge for guests and hot water for tea or coffee...also rice if you get hungry. All this makes it a nice place to be for backpackers. It's important to remember that it is a guesthouse, self-service and it meet basic needs while traveling.

I think the guy named Trit (vietname guy) at the frontdesk was very sweet - he explains everything into details. We have a great talk - I am particularly grateful for his instant notifying me about the passport I left as I checked out. I am very indebted to him for his kindness.

JapanThere's an elevator but it doesn't seem like it could be used. The soundproofing is also not the greatest, as we can hear people exiting and entering the room. It's especially noisy when the room is right beside the washroom.
Located close to Atami Station but requires a bit of a climb to reach the guest house. The lobby looks a bit outdated but the room itself is comfortable.

No breakfast provided, critical way to reach the property, not convenient, but from roof top it was a great view to watch the beach, deep blue sea, and the hills

GermanyThere is an extra charge for the onsen (I believe it was around ¥1000).
Very good location close to the station and with nice view. The common space was large and comfy, everything was very clean and the bunk beds were surprisingly spacious with room for your things and even two hangers.

Australiaguest house megumi is one of the loveliest places i’ve stayed in a while! the property is up a pretty steep hill, so i got my morning exercise climbing up and down. stayed for two nights in the dorm and the bunks were very comfortable, the curtains made for a good amount of breeze that ventilated the room well and kept me cool. the onsen was in fantastic condition and loved using it every night. the owner was so sweet and kind, old chinese man who clearly is passionate about his job and his property. we conversed in english, japanese, and mandarin, and always asked me how the room was, the facilities, even helped with my doing laundry. would definitely come back again <3 谢谢您!

NetherlandsPaid extra for towels (but they were large and fluffy). Shared bathrooms and showers (as in the description). No restaurant in this district is open past 2000.
Clean and well-appointed guest house, an easy walk from Atami station (with a short but quite steep driveway), very friendly and helpful owner, and .... in-house onsen (hot bath)!! Nice common room.

United StatesEverything was great. It is right between the station and beach, but no convenient bus. Not at all a problem for an adult, but my kids got a bit tired climbing the hill after beach time. But we all managed and had a great time!
Friendly staff, he even bought the kids ice cream our first night which was soooo nice! Always available if needed. The common lounge and rooftop had great views and were comfortable. The beds were comfortable too, and the Onsen was great -hottest Onsen I've experienced on Japan, so you might not want to go when it first opens. (Onsen hours are 5-10pm, alternating with women first, then men, when women again). The Onsen facilities were good and clean.

Nice and small place. Staff were helpful and friendly. There is a small and basic hostel on site for ¥150 per night (you don't have to pay if you don't use the onsen, regular showers are available). The common room is big and there's a great view from the roof. The capsule was bigger than in other hostels I stayed in.
