How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBreakfast was included in the price, it was healthy and delicious! The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. The water kettle had long thin nose so it was easy to pour cooled down water into our water bottles to keep in fridge overnight. The reception area looks very nice with a spacious area for guests to relax. Location was relatively close to train station and in the train station it tells you which exit to take to the hotel! That made it easier to find, plus close to Family Mart so overall it was a good place to stay for 3 nights to explore Nagoya.
The room tear and wear is shown, seems slightly run down as we could see our room wall is not maintained that well. Fridge is very small and no freezer (we like to freeze water bottle overnight so it could slowly melt throughout the day as days are hot). I accidentally dropped something under bed and I could see it has not been vacuumed for a while. 😔
Thank you very much for choosing our hotel on this occasion. We are delighted that you enjoyed our breakfast service, the attentiveness of our staff, the kettle in your room, and the convenient access from the station. However, we sincerely apologize for any discomfort caused by the deterioration of room facilities and cleaning issues. We also apologize again for any inconvenience regarding the refrigerator. We deeply appreciate your thoughtful feedback. All of us at the hotel look forward to welcoming you back.

Verified reviewThe staff were super helpful and friendly, they made us feel very welcome. The location was great too, close to the subway and to the shrine. The room was just standard, fairly small, but relatively comfortable.
I was really disappointed by the breakfast. It was supposed to be sorted with a help of a nutritionist, yet it was just basic eggs, sausages, bread, rice, miso soup, and three types of salad (potato, lettuce, and shrimp, rotating). Quite plain and disappointing. Also, the bed was by the wall, so I kept hitting my knee. Otherwise, a good stay.
Thank you very much for choosing our hotel. We are honored that you appreciated our staff and the location of our hotel, even though your room made you feel cramped. However, we are sorry that our breakfast service did not meet your expectations. Thank you again for your feedback. We look forward to serving you again.

Verified reviewThe location was great, only a 3-minute walk from the subway station. You can even walk to Jingumae station of the Meitetsu Line. I didn’t feel the need to call a taxi during my entire stay there, even with my heavy suitcase.
I stayed in a single room, and as with many other business hotels in Japan, rooms are quite small. The bathroom is a step above the floor, but if you are not used to it, you may hit your toes like I did. I also noticed that the hotel wifi connection wasn’t stable at times. The bed mattress was a bit hard.
Thank you very much for staying at our hotel. We are grateful that you appreciated the location of our hotel. However, we apologize for the cramped feeling in your room, the unstable Wi-Fi, and the mattress of your bed. Thank you again for your feedback. We look forward to welcoming you again.

Verified reviewThis hotel is quite close to the subway station (Meijo line) and the Atsuta Jingu, so you can easily reach central Nagoya and visit the shrine. The Asian breakfast was tasty, but didn’t change during my stay (everyday they offered miso soup, rice, salad, and some preserves). My bedroom got warm in the last night, and I had issues turning on the air conditioning. There’s a humidifier/fan in the bedroom, which can be helpful in dry days. The bedroom size is a bit smaller than I imagined, but wasn’t a big issue. The mattress was a bit too hard for me.
Thank you very much for staying at our hotel. We are very pleased to hear your compliments on our accessibility, breakfast service, and room furnishings. However, we apologize for the inconvenience caused by the air conditioning and mattresses in your room. Thank you again for your kind and extensive feedback. We sincerely look forward to welcoming you again.

Verified reviewThe room was clean and had a great atmosphere, and the hotel is just about 5-7 minutes from Atsuta Shrine (my main destination). I myself love secondhand bookstores, so the enormous BookOff Plus right across the street was a literal dream! If you want to spend a lot of time in downtown Nagoya (etc.), you'll need the nearby Meijo subway line or the Meitetsu train line.
The breakfast is very basic and mostly Japanese, though the fruit salad and the cereals were a nice touch. The bed was a bit too firm.
Thank you very much for choosing our hotel. We are glad to hear that you liked your room and that you were able to use the surrounding facilities conveniently. However, we are sorry th at you were not satisfied with our breakfast service and the firmness of the bed. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We all look forward to seeing you again.

The room was very hot even at night and there was no way of cooling it down. I wasn’t able to sleep well because of it.
Thank you very much for staying at our hotel. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused by the air conditioning in your room. The operation of the air conditioning is centrally controlled at the front desk, and only the air volume can be adjusted in your room. We thank you again for your feedback.
