for some, the bugs might be a issue, but we are fine, guess this is the problem live so close to nature?

there're bus stops nearby, if you don't come with car, traditional Japanese style rooms, the restaurant downstairs offers transitional food as well, have had our lunch and breakfast there, definitely recommend it,even if you don't stay there, the restaurant worths a try. The day we arrived was raining heavily, so the host offered us the early check-in, very appreciated.

It was nice to be in a guesthouse instead of the impersonal hotel. It was a taste of real Japan with real family people, not staff. We slept in a 6 tatamis room with confortable futons. We ate marvelous family cooking, specially for breakfast. We walk to the onsen near by on the evening for a relaxing bath. We really enjoy our stay!

Proprietor do not seem too friendly.. toilet and sinks at the upper floor can be cleaner, although nothing too bad.

Good view of the river. Nearest bus stn for JR Tohoku is Yakeyama bus stn. Highly recommended to book breakfast and dinner as there are no restaurants open for dinner ard that area. No combini ard too.Food served is great. They have 1 ofuro at basement.

The property is more like budget-value, but there is nothing wrong with it.

The accomodation is an older property right at the beginning of Oirase stream, with parking for up to 7ish cars right out front. The rooms are basic and in good condition, while the shared areas are a bit more dated. Food was traditional and plentiful! Communication with the owners was only in Japanese so a bit choppy, but they were friendly regardless.

Too many live bugs in room. I am a foreigner and have to make my own tatami bed, which I don’t know how but managed it.

Great location right by the northern end of Oirase Gorge and the visitor center where you can rent bikes or start a walking tour. You can get discount tickets to a nearby onsen or there are showers on site.

Owners could be more... pleasant. They are helpful if you ask for anything but you aren't getting the Japanese hospitality that we all know and love

Clean tatami rooms. Very close to the starting/ending point of oirase gorge and the other facilities like oirase gorge museum (gift shop and cafe are 100), and the gorge station gift shop/restaurant (keiryu no eki)

The room was clean, nice and spacious. The bathroom and the shower were clean. Hot and cold water was provided in the room for drinking. You can buy dinner downstairs, the owner couple will prepare it for you.

It is a family run amall inn. We had half board n the food for bothdiner n bf was so good n sumptuous. The charges were well worth and location was so convenient that is just at the beginning of oirase gorge.

Amazing value for the price! Probably the best minshuku I have stayed in. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were extremely good - both the volume and the taste. The location is convenient for visiting Oirase stream.

the house full of insects! when you kill the insects, it smells very bad! insects are everywhere, in room, in toilet, it corrodes! the attitude of young staff (son of old couple?) are very cold, when you tell him there are insects, he acts very cold.

extremely poor attitude

did not stay at the property after paying accommodation and dinner upfront due to poor service of the host. very rude and told us no luggage in the room upstairs due to Covid. I understand the host does not speak English, but the attitude of service is not there. can’t stand the rudeness.

I had killed more or less 30 insects in the room and 20 at the corridor, stair, public toilet and bathroom. Insects were found everywhere in this motel!
