Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe only thing I can see people complain about is being slightly outdated being an older hotel.
The staff was super friendly and always helpful. The breakfast was affordable and very good. Location wasn't too far from the station and easy walking distance to many shops and restaurants. We walked to many of the tourist sites around the city. Would recommend and stay again if in Sendai.

AustraliaThe bathroom was quite small. Not much natural light in the room. Breakfast had only two options, both of which were just ok. No breakfast offered on a holiday.
Comfortable well appointed room. Reasonably close to the main station. Friendly staff

JapanFirstly, their advertisement of having AC is misleading. The HVAC is set to cold or hot by the front desk, depending on season, and cannot be changed to the other mode. When turned on with the fan on high, it makes no noticeable difference. Even with the fan on and 60-65 degree temperature outside and the window open, it became uncomfortably warm. We had to use our own fan to have any circulation. It would be miserable during the summer. Secondly, don't expect to be able to do laundry here. To start with, washers are pin locked and front desk doesn't know how to unlock them. If someone leaves laundry in the machine all day, they can't open it to remove it, and will give you an excuse that they don't know what room it belongs to so they can't do anything about it. Other hotels have a whiteboard for people to write the number, and there's cameras they can check. So in our case, someone filled the machine in the afternoon and didn't come back until morning, so the machine was unusable. Even if it is open, they for some reason put every washer on tiny stilts off the ground, so they unbalance themselves constantly. Even with the machine only half loaded, it'll throw itself out of balance and stop working during the spin cycle. Front desk will readjust the machine and run it again for free, but it keeps doing it, so what's the point? The second time it happened, the machine gave an error code and the staff had to go find a manual to confirm that yes, it's off balancing itself. If they have to stop a machine or do anything with them, they have to get the manual. No clue why they aren't trained on this. They will begrudgingly give you a refund if pressured, but want to keep "trying again", which gets the same result. We gave up after a single load of laundry turned into a 3 hour ordeal with multiple trips to the front desk, and used a coin laundry nearby.
The room was comfortable and decent sized. The location is within 15 min walk to Sendai station and has konbini close by. It's okay for a short stay in winter, as long as you don't need strong wifi or laundry facilities and don't mind lackluster cleaning and service. It's hard to recommend when there's many other chain hotels in the area that are better on these points. The cost performance is not high. It's a good option only if everywhere better is booked up or significantly more expensive.

Canada- central HVAC system: there is a dial near bed for temperature control, but it is ineffective. I wake up feeling overheated (almost like a low-grade fever) and drenched in sweat. The ventilation is very poor. Fortunately, you can open the window to cool down and let in fresh air. However, be cautious if you have children, as the window can open widely without any safety protection, which poses a risk even for adults. - The HVAC system is noisy. While I can tolerate some noise, it can be bothersome. - The location is not ideal; it is somewhat far from Main Street and the station. Although I didn’t experience snowfall during my stay, I live in a snowy area, so I know it can be messy and a hassle to carry luggage for about 10 minutes. If you plan to visit in winter, I recommend choosing accommodations closer to the station.
My flight was delayed, so I had no choice but to book a hotel two days before my stay. It is a old-style hotel. - The price is reasonable. - The room is larger than typical accommodations. - Some reviews mentioned cleanliness issues, but my room was acceptable. - convenience store within 1 minute.

SingaporeThe wifi in the first room given to me was useless. The signal strength was so low, the connection dropped repeatedly. They changed my room the next day and the signal strength was better, mostly 3 bars out of five. The room didn't come with a kettle in the normal sense, but a small water boiler (no more then two teacups of water) on some kind of mini induction stove top. The bedside lamp didn't work.
On the one hand, this hotel was about 700 -800m from the railway station, so it was a bit of a walk from the station to reach it. It was all on the flat though, not uphill or downhill. On the other hand, the area around the station had lots of traffic and noise, so being a bit further away also meant a quieter area. There were elevators to rooms. Check-in was smooth. The hotel looks on the older side. However, this also meant that that the room was not as tight as some of the newer hotels. The room came with a fridge, but no safe. Temperature was fine, but I couldn't see any thermostat controls. There was a desk, but overall, the room's lighting was less than sufficient. There was really only one useful electrical charging point for equipment. The bathroom was OK and typical for Japanese hotels in this class. Water pressure was good, hot water came through quickly. Drainage from the sink however needed a bit of attention. I did not sign up for breakfast in this hotel. There are plenty of restaurants midway between the hotel and the railway station, with most of them along the covered street. There are also many restaurants in the station itself, but these seemed always crowded. In the vicinty of the hotel, there were plenty of convenience stores around.

NetherlandsFor breakfast you can choose between Japanese or European every day, but these two options are always the same (it's not a buffet), so it can get boring fast. Also breakfast is till 8:30 which I find a bit early.
Super spacious hotel rooms, especially for Japanese standards, comfortable bed, nice staff and close to Sendai station. It's not a big building which gives it more of a personal feeling.

GermanyThere was a problem with the wifi upon arrival, however it was fixed within 20mins.
Located a short ten minute walk from Sendai station, the hotel was very easy to find. The reception is open 24hrs and the staff were absolutely wonderful no matter the time I came in or went out. The hotel room was bigger than your standard room and comfortably furnished with an additional table and armchair to rest in. The bathroom was a common unit bath which does not look flattering on the photos of the property but was actually very spacious and clean. Cleanliness in general was great, they left new towels outside your door if you did not wish for cleaning on the day. The best part was the silence; the walls are not thin like normal hotel rooms but seemed to be thicker so one couldn't hear the rooms next door. It was the best sleep I ever had at a hotel due to that!

United StatesThe room was meant for two people but there were three of us. They fit another bed into our small double room which meant that we had very little space to sit (only two chairs)or move. They had advertised that the room was up to three adults so the lack of space was a surprise.
Breakfast provided was good and the service by the staff was pleasant. The hotel met our needs.
