Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesHotel was so clean and simple. Location was perfect, close to the prime locations in Shinjuku, but also quiet. The hotel also helped arrange luggage delivery to Kyoto for us! Would definitely come back to stay here next time I come to Japan!

NetherlandsWe had a large room, but was split into 1 bunk bed and 2 double beds. So with 4 people, my kid had to sleep in between us.
There was an actual reception, although you could check in through a terminal, somebody was actually there to set us up. We arrived early but our room was already prepared and everything was new and clean! Washing machines with dryer function available in our room, great Japanese bathroom (without stool & mirror). Location is crawling distance from Shin-Okubo (1 stop from Shinjuku). Metro a little further out, but walkable. Drinking water dispenser and lots of extra's (E.g. rehydration candy during hot season, toothbrush, etc.). Even had a scale to weigh suitcases before departure!

TurkeyIt was super clean, the beds were very comfortable. We were traveling with our two kids (11 and 14), and many hotels require booking two separate rooms for families. This hotel was perfect, it offered one room for two adults and two children, the room is big. there was a washing machine in the bathroom.

United KingdomAbsolutely brilliant stay at da Haus, highly recommended and will stay again if we return to Japan in the future. Perfect for a stay in Shinjuku, great location for surrounding areas (Kabukicho etc) close to 2 train stations, Shin-Okubu being the main one. This station will get you to all the main areas or connect you through other stations. Top tip, get a Pasmo or Suica card for easy train payments, we went with Pasmo, best thing we did for paying at train stations. da Haus has all you need for a great stay in Shinjuku, comfortable beds, small kitchen area in room, hob, sink , small fridge , microwave, Kettle etc. Also room controlled Air con and hot water controlled in room. Modern toilet with all the jets on, walk in shower was very good. Large TV get Netflix, YouTube, Amazon etc. Also there are coin washing machines and dryers if you need them, smoking area with drinks vending machine (cheap prices). Staff are happy, friendly and very helpful. Very happy with da Haus, get yourself booked in, you won't regret it. Very happy customers.

TurkeyWe had a lot of luggage so the room felt a little cramped at times with 4 of us in there but if you don't have much luggage or less people staying, it would be much more comfortable.
The staff was extremely helpful during our whole stay. The beds were comfortable and the cleaning was upto our standards. We were provided with clean slippers and towels after each cleaning session. Even if you don't want cleaning, you can still receive clean towels. The bathtub and the shower was really nice.

ItalyThere were two main downsides: the ladder to the bunk bed is vertical and steep, not very easy to climb; the air con directly points to the bed, which is not super pleasant during night. All the rest is amazing. I'd definitely recommend it.
Da Haus Shinjuku is a comfortable accommodation conveniently located next to two JR lines in Okubo, which made our trip and commuting super easy. The staff is kind and helpful. There are many services available: washing machines, dryers, water machine, a digital scale, toothpaste, umbrellas, and many more. The room was spacious and super clean, same as the bathroom. It included a desk with chairs, a fridge, a sink, an induction cooker, and air con.

SingaporeNot much space to open our suitcases because the beds were so wide. It's fine for us because we only had 1 large suitcase, but families may struggle if there are more suitcases.
Spotlessly clean in the room, bathroom, and common areas. Beds were very wide and comfortable too. Staff communicated well in English and they were very accommodating to help us store our luggage after we checked out. Location was excellent, near metro and food places. Room was very quiet at night and we felt safe with the digital locks at main entrance and our room. We had a great rest.

We recently stayed at da Haus Shinjuku and were genuinely impressed by how well it suited our family’s travel style. The location is incredibly convenient—just a short walk from Shin-Okubo Station and surrounded by restaurants, shops, and even Don Quijote for last-minute essentials. Despite being in a lively neighborhood, the property felt safe and surprisingly quiet at night. The room was compact but cleverly designed, with two queen beds and a bunk bed that comfortably fit our group. We especially appreciated the in-room washer and dryer, which made a huge difference during our multi-day stay. The kitchenette, complete with a microwave and stovetop, added a homey touch and gave us flexibility with meals. Staff were warm and helpful, even offering thoughtful extras like bubble wrap and tape for packing souvenirs. While reception isn’t staffed 24/7, the self check-in process was smooth and secure. One small note: storage space is limited, so organizing luggage efficiently is key.

United StatesNothing to report here. We were all very happy with our stay!
The property is in a very convenient quiet location even though it's in Shinjuku. It is very close to shopping, great food and public transportation. It was also was very clean. The staff were incredibly responsive, resourceful and friendly. I appreciate all the amenities: toiletries, laundry detergent, coffee, tea and the comfortable beds! I also appreciated the fact that they received our shipped luggage two days in advance, held our luggage since check in time was later than we arrived and they were kind enough to bring our baggage up to our room even though we didn't request them to. This relieved us of the stress to bring our luggage up and we were able to go straight to our room. Check in and check out process was also very efficient! I'll definitely stay with Da Haus again in the future and highly recommend that you stay there the next time you plan to visit Tokyo!

United StatesIt has a little bit of an Airbnb feeling to it - the staff isn’t at the front desk 24/7 (like a hotel), so you’ll be given a check-in code if you arrive after hours. This wasn’t a problem for us, but I could see how it might feel a little sketchy for other guests. We also wish we were given more than 1 pillow per person
The front desk staff was very kind and welcoming. The room itself was larger than we expected - it had a cool layout and a nice bathroom with a washing machine and spacious shower. The check-in experience was quick and easy. We especially loved how da Haus has a scale in the lobby so we could check if our luggage was overweight. They also provide bubble wrap and tape in case you’re bringing fragile items back home. The location was great for us, mere minutes away from Shin Okubo station, & close to vending machines, McDonald’s, convenience stores, restaurants, etc. We definitely would recommend others to stay here.

AustraliaOnly place to store your luggage was in the main thoroughfare in the room. Fine if you have only one suitcase or are happy to jump over them, otherwise makes room quite cramped.
Quiet but central location, close to all the shops, restaurants and train station, excellent value for money and super helpful staff.
