room size... but in Kyoto I guess normal. The common shower one night was with a lot of hair on the floor. I know that this is due to guests but anyhow not the best

the hostel is a very good area in Kyoto, closed to metro and to a lot of attractions and shopping spots and restaurant for the night. They have the possibility to do onsen in the structure, that is a plus and our room was really a nice japanese style

It is well located. We had a large traditional room. I liked it. There was a washing basin. A toilet was nearby. The traditional shared Japanese bathroom/shower facility was interesting for a Westerner. I found it fine. My teenage kids didn't like the bathroom so much.

Really I have no complaints, our stay was lovely. The communal 4 person shower was a surprise however didn’t end up being a problem.

We were on the last floor of the hotel and there was no shower on our floor so we had to go down 4 floor to shower. That was not super convenient but that was the only thing so I would recommend this stay for sure.

Best location in Kyoto. Almost everything was to a walking distance. Building is old and rooms could benefits of a fresh paint, but overall we loved the tatamis room experience and I would definitely go back. There was a tea set and small table with cushion as well for ceiling that was every appreciated when back from a long walking day.

WIFI signal was very weak at level 5 in our room.

Uncle at the front desk is very nice. Location is very convenient and near to the market and tourist attractions.

Very clean and silent, super shower. Perfect location you can reach restaurants, markets and metro easily by foot. In a really nice neighbourhood. We like it a lot!

There are shared fridges but no crockery for do-it-yourself meals, which is a pity: I had to buy a bowl to have breakfast in my room.

The pension is a series of rooms with shared bathrooms/washbasins, and no food is provided. It is comfy, warm and the host is very nice. Tea making facilities and teabags are provided which is welcome. Not quite as convivial as a hostel but well located and, for the time of year, the price was reasonable. The wifi was excellent, which was helpful for working.

I was told that there would be a place to do laundry, but when I asked the owner, I was informed that the laundry was broken, not a huge deal, but slightly disappointed

It was simple but nice, rooms were spacious, comfortable and overall enjoyed the feel of the room The hotel is also located in a really good location, next to many different food and shopping centers and fairly close to the train station, overall great experience given the price and honestly would stay again if I ever visit kyoto For a 1 star hotel way better then expected

no wifi in the room or very slow in common area. it was cold in spring time including the shower room. Also some weird noises what kept you up middle of the night

Not a problem for us but something to be aware of - the only thing that we were not expecting was that the showers in the men's and ladies bathrooms were communal, rather than shared. There is a shower room that has 4 showers in it and a bathtub, they are not separated by cubicles or curtains. However you could lock the bathroom door and shower on your own, this is what everyone seemed to do while we stayed so it wasn't a problem!

The location is great, 10/15 minute walk to Nishiki Market and the main shopping street. Close to lots of restaurants and 7/11. The owner was really friendly and gave us a map when we checked in and highlighted good places to visit as well as good places to view cherry blossom. Our room was of traditional style which was really nice to experience. Toilets and sinks on every floor all kept spotless - fridge and microwave on our floor too so you could use those as well. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Lovely, clean property with all the amenities you could need. Really great location close to a nice shopping district, 7/11 for food, and subway/bus stations. Super friendly and helpful staff. Beds were really comfy.

Excellent location, peaceful and quiet. The room was sparkling clean, comfortable, furnished in Japanese traditional style. The staff was friendly offering warm hospitality and sightseeing recommendations. Highly recommend!
