Very authentic and homely traditional ryokan run by a lovely couple. Basic, yet authentic and clean rooms. I didn't use the private bathroom onsen, but my daughter did and said it was lovely and relaxing. Owners were very friendly and accommodating by storing our luggage before and after check in/out. A real time capsule in modern Japan. Recommended if you want an authentic ryokan experience.

Authentic ryokan. Comfortable and large room with a lovely couple managing the place. Location to the temple was fabulous and walking distance to the train and bus right out in front.

Amazing!! The owners are so kind and accommodating. We arrived a little late because of delays so I was worried about missing check in, but when we finally got there she met us out on the street even and made sure we got in okay! Just so kind and going the extra mile for us. We were able to communicate just fine despite my limited Japanese and their limited English. Such a cool experience and the place itself is beautiful. The surrounding area is amazing as well! I’m so happy we got to experience it!

It's cold in the morning and late at night. But it was winter so it's expected. There are heaters around but it's not always on

It was a nice ryokan and not too expensive. Staff are very nice.

It was a beautiful stay, very traditional, well maintained and super cozy. Great hospitality. The couple who own/operate are so sweet. Sent us on our way with lots of extra tea and warm wishes. Will be back here if ever in nagano again!

It was very traditional Japanese Ryokan. The owners were so amazing and nice! Even though they could barely speak English and I could barely speak Japanese we communicated just fine! They even invited me in to share a fuji apple one morning with them! Felt very welcomed by them!

The room was a little cold (visited in February) and the wall heater wasn’t the greatest.

The property oozes character. You really get the feeling of staying in a traditional Japanese ryokan. The owners are so cute and I felt like they treated us like one of their own. They even went out of their way to make sure we had proper foot wear and hand warmers to visit the snow monkeys (like a moron I only packed shoes instead of boots).

It was winter and around -7 degrees in Nagano. Unfortunately, there was only cold water in the bathroom - fortunately, the hot onsen helped warming ourselves up again.

Our stay was great! The Ryokan is owned by a very nice couple which have put a lot of love into the building. Everything was super clean and also very traditional. The Ryokan is very well located with a bus stop in front of it which was super convenient. We can only recommend this place!

The plastic on the stool in the spa was disintegrating leaving plastic bits floating around the water.

Excellent location. Nice quiet Ryokan. Friendly owners who run a tight ship. Perfect for short stays and excellent value for money.

The lady’s bath needs fixing: the shower water won’t flow and the use of bleach for cleaning leaves too strong a smell that was unpleasant to me. Please renovate this area, it could be a great facility for the place!

Old style traditional house, so be aware of what you should expect: squeaking wooden floors, many stairs (and you must carefully carry your luggage to your room!), cold in winter. My teenagers loved it! The owner couple was very kind to us and very available to help in any way.

This place was perfect for our Nagano experience! Excellent atmosphere and hospitality with cozy traditional Japanese rooms and a hot, relaxing bath.

The lovely couple who own the ryokan are so hospitable and friendly and made me feel very safe as a solo female traveler! I stayed during winter so the onsen was fantastic and the couple would give me a hot thermos of water every evening when I returned! I could not recommend more highly it was so clean and cozy and the tatami bed was super comfortable. My wonderful experience here was truly made by the lovely owners who were so sweet I will definitely be returning!
