    All good

Friendly staff. The family that runs the place was very kind and considerate to us. We felt very well taken care of. The place was clean. Not too many people in the place during the week. More on the weekend. Also they made us a great dinner which we ate two evenings for a good price. Shared bathroom worked out fine. The sinks are in the hallway, which took a little getting used to.

I enjoyed the traditional aesthetics and excellent hospitality. There was plenty of bedding and I appreciated the kotatsu as well. The breakfast was delicious and the private onsen was nice and relaxing

Sweet and kind staff. Parking next to the guesthouse. Everything you could need for a stay in Nozawa! Keep in mind that it’s a guesthouse so you share a shower, but seeing as I used a nearby onsen to bathe I didn’t use it. Thank you for the wonderfull stay!

Relaxed and happy stay in the ryokan!

We didn’t know that this ryokan is not included in the shibu onsen tour. So we have no access to the 9 public onsen.

The Onsen inside the ryokan is the best thing! The owner is so kind and introduce us many local restaurants for lunch and dinner, also the way to the Shiga Kogen ski area. Parking is free in front of the ryokan. Many steps to climb as our room are at 4th floor buts that’s not a problem for young people like us.

No place to put luggages in the room. We went during winter and hallway is a bit cold.

Excellent location. Close to bus depot and places we want to go

There are no ensuite bathrooms, though the shared bathrooms are always clean. Something to note is the shower area have a schedule, 5-7pm for men and 7-9pm for women, but the comfortable hot bath made up for it. It would be nice if there could be a short morning session for showering.

A wonderful place to stay in Nozawa Onsen! The host family is very warm and welcoming and the location is very close to the Chuo(central) terminal of the Nozawaonsen Liner. The dinners were one of the very best during our trip and offered a seven-course menu that changes daily, and every dish was so delicately prepared with heart skilfully making use of local seasonal ingredients. Every morning, a traditional and healthy Japanese breakfast is served that gets you up and ready for a great day exploring the village or skiing in the resort nearby. The accommodation was both comfortable and traditional. In the shower area, there are two showers and a hot bath that refreshed us after a day of skiing. There is a drying room which is very useful for skiiers. The host family also gave each of us a delicious Shinshu apple as we bid farewell. Definitely recommended for anyone seeking a traditional and convenient hotel that feels like home in Nozawa Onsen.

If you’re not a morning person, it might be better to skip breakfast at this inn. It is served at 7:30am.

It’s a quaint inn, that is near to several bath houses and a small shopping street. The owners are the sweetest people and the breakfast exceptional. It’s a full Japanese breakfast every morning which is delicious, healthy and gets you ready for the day. The futon and blankets are super comfortable and the sound of running water, that comes from the mountain, put me right to sleep every night.

Hosts are very nice and willing to help. Great location just near the bus station, town centre and retail shop. Room was warm in winter. Very limited time for the share bathroom, 5-7pm for men and 7-9 pm for women, I always went to the paid onsen after ski. wifi is ok but need to improve too.

The single onsen was open at set times for males and females. Not a big deal, just make sure you don't miss your spot as there aren't separate showers to use if you do.

We loved staying here. Traditional Japanese rooms were great. Onsen was great. The family that ran the hotel were awesome, very accommodating and cooked a great breakfast. Would recommend this place!

Nothing tI can pinpoint considering the target audience and price set by this establishment.

Chouchinya’s Toshi san and Tomoko san were excellent hosts. I had the pleasure of staying at Chouchinya for ten nights (Monday, February 13 to Wednesday, February 22). I opted for the bed and Japanese breakfast option. Not only was it great value for monet ($86 a day for a single) the breakfast provided was more than enough for me on most days to not be bothered having lunch. That is saying something considering I skied everyday bar one. You can even opt to have dinner which I did on two occasions. If you are money conscious, you will be hard pressed to get better value in Nozawa Onsen for your dining dollar. The location is perfect. A very short walk from both the Chuo bus station and centre of town. I rented my skis from Sports Thanx near the Nagasaka gondola. The walk each day from Chouchinya was less than 10 minutes. In a nutshell central to all you want to see and do in the lovely town of Nozawa Onsen.
