How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe owners where lovely, the place/room was very clean and the free coffee tasted amazing.. They are both baristas, as not only did it taste great but the art was fantastic. Location was in a perfect spot with a 7 eleven just a 2min walk, train station a 5 min walk and many temples at your door step and the beach only a 10min walk..will be back👍 Justin

Verified reviewThe location is unbeatable — right off the main street, surrounded by charming shops and great restaurants. The room was spotlessly clean and included a private shower. The shared toilet, located in the corridor, was also impeccably maintained. We really appreciated the simplicity and thoughtful design of the space, featuring high-quality wooden floors and comfortable bedding. This is Airbnb at its best. The owners live on the property and host just two guest rooms, which makes the experience feel personal and special. They provided a helpful booklet with recommended spots to visit and were truly the kindest, most welcoming people we met. You can truly feel that CASA was created with love — and that love is extended to every guest who stays there.
The only small downside was that the twin room faces the main street, so we could hear some traffic noise in the morning. That said, it was quiet at night, and we had no trouble sleeping. The owners were very thoughtful — they let us know about this in advance and kindly provided free earplugs just in case. Once again, it showed how much they truly care about their guests.

Verified reviewThe owners were very kind and welcoming. The coffee (one drink per day included) was delicious. The room and bathroom were spotless and the position was ideal for both shrines and beach.
Given the building structure and location, you can perceive vibration and noise coming from the street. The guests are provided with earplugs, which help. By the second night, I got used to the environment and had a better sleep.

Verified reviewI had an excellent stay @casa.kamakura.espresso !!!! The hosts @yucalina and Sug were excellent. She is an interior designer and he is an architect. The b and b is really kool with just 2 guests rooms- very comfortable! There is surfing and skating gear around! You also get a choice of a coffee drink each day! Thank you sooo much Yuca! I love the beautiful origami gift you made and gave me!!! Please visit New York City in the future!
Loved it! No complaints!

Verified reviewWe loved everything about this place. The hosts were incredibly kind and went out of their way to take care of us, even letting us store our luggage and our friend’s, even though they weren’t staying there. The house was cozy, peaceful, and tucked into the most charming little town. It was such a relaxing spot to come back to after exploring. The location was perfect—just a 7-minute walk to the Kamakura Daibutsu and our favorite ramen shop ever, Hanami. It was also super close to the beach, a 7-Eleven, and many of the main sights in Kamakura. The hosts’ hospitality was beyond amazing. They made sure we had everything we needed at all times and even gave us thoughtful little gifts when we left. We truly enjoyed every minute and would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Nothing. It was amazing!

Verified reviewThe couple who ran the place were super nice and the room was super comfortable.
It is a shared toilet , but you had a lovely private shower in your room. It was fine sharing the toilet as the lovely owners were quiet and downstairs all evening.

Verified reviewVery friendly and welcoming owners and a fantastic location. You have a lot of freedom and can come and go when you like. The twin room is big, comfortable, and have everything. Located 3-5 minute walk from Hase station on the Enoden line, and right next to Hase Temple. Definitely would recommend this stay in Kamakura.

Verified reviewIt's a great no frills place to stay in a beautiful town. Very good place to switch off from the world! They have a little kind of bar attached to the rooms where you can get coffee etc off them (1 free drink per day)
It's a bit noisy as it's right on a main road. Not a problem for me, but something to bear in mind. They do provide ear plugs as well!
