How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

It says the hotel has sauna but women’s public bath don’t have sauna,it’s dissapointing.

Verified reviewI often come to Kagoshima and this is my favourite mid range hotel in the Tenmonkan area. The rooms are spacious for a Japanese hotel. As well as comfortable, clean and well appointed with crisp white cotton linen. No polyester bedcovers. The touches in the rooms are nice, attractive and clean with quiet air con. No lights shining from anything in the room at night. The lighting options were great. The location is excellent.
For foreign tourists it might be good to have the guide information on the TV in other languages like Mandarin, Korean and English.

No choice at breakfast. Had food poisoning and could not stomach japanese breakfast. Needed coffee. ¥200 extra for coffee. Didn’t have a wallet so couldn’t have coffee for breakfast. Slow and inefficient elevators. A lot of time spent waiting for them. Cleaner ignored my calls of her not entering my room and started trying to open the door after I had shouted no 3x. They offer late check-out for ¥1500. I was charged ¥3000 when leaving and no one at the reception as its a hologram…called for a human and nothing. Was in a massive hurry so just paid this double price. Just hated my stay there.

I paid for the breakfast upfront. When I found out it wasn’t a buffet, I asked if at least a vegetarian option was available. The front desk couldn’t assure it to me, so I asked a refund to get my breakfast somewhere else. They refused to refund me arguing that it wasn’t refundable. Unacceptable! Also the system of 20-hr parking lot is so complicated when you are staying several consecutive nights without moving your car. Communication is a serious issue that this hotel should work on. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to a relative!

Verified reviewThe hotel is right across from the tram stop and is easy to get around. The area across the street appears to be lots of nightclubs and men’s bars, from what I could gather. But the rooms were quiet. The parking is next door, but it’d help to know.. you have to park first, then take your ticket up to reception, check in, dial 9 on the nearby phone, then pay for your parking. Also have everything ready to quickly take out of the car. The room was a good size and comfortable bed.
Having reception people literally behind a closed door where you have to ring them, then repeat yourself 8 times, because they don’t speak English, then they hang up and walk out, is ridiculous. Just have a front desk to save the hassle. The room only has green tea, no coffee and no glasses.

Verified reviewLocation was great - very great location for shopping Its a location that you can walk (1-3 km) to the central station, ferry to the volcano.
The hotel uses electronic check in and minimal staff - on call. The check in desk has a holgram of a samurai and you self check in. My check in took some time and I needed to call for human help. The front desk staff sorted it out, but it was not as easy as having a person to do it in the first place.
