Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelCould be a better system for keeping windows open in the rooms. Also I was new to hotels where the managers are not on the premises at all or just for the few check-in hours, which leaves the place a bit empty.
Location as close as possible to the main Buddhist temple complex AND the train station, with a Lawson's convenience store a few buildings away. Rooms very compact but tasteful and well laid out. The downstairs common area spacious and elegant. Nice collection of art books to peruse from. And the proprietress, who is there for just the three hours of check-in, is extremely warm and engaging.

AustraliaThe room was very small and hard to manoeuvre with any big luggage, but manageable for a short stay.
The host and location are the biggest stand outs for this small but effective stay. From the moment we got there the host greeted us with a warm smile and all the information we could possibly need making our introduction to Kamakura super easy and welcoming. The stay is located just behind Kita- Kamakura station which was amazing as we could get to any attraction or area we wanted to see. There was no issue of Train noise as the station is very quiet. There are a few Small cafes and breakfast spots on the road just outside and there is a Lawson 1 minute down that makes everything just that bit easier! Great location and a very kind host.

SingaporeThe toilet area can get cold at night, so i had to layer up to go to the toilet. im someone that needs to drink warm water, but the kettle was downstairs at the common area. So laziness won over me and i just make do with what i have in the room.
Is really near the train station and there's a convenience store nearby if you need anything.

ChinaNone,everything’s great👍
Located just next to Kita-Kamakura Station, about 2-3 minutes’ walk. The room is clean and well-organized. One can hardly feel that the it is actually quite small ( another good feature though, easy to fetch anything and all are at hand). Japanese-styled decoration with actual tatami, AC and a great bathroom and everything people can ask for in a hotel. The hosting lady is one with kind heart and hospitality, I had a good time chatting with her in Japanese (it’s ok if you don’t speak Japanese, the translator she used is of great help)

PolandNew building. Clean, very nicely furnished rooms, Japanese-Scandinavian style with pleasant smell of fresh wood. Comfortable futon bed. Spacious common room. Neighborhood calm and quiet (note that there is a railway station next to the building, but I had windows closed and AC working, so it didn’t disturb me at all). AC works really well also when it comes to air dehumidifier, which was good as despite October the weather was rainy and warm. The owner is super nice and helpful! The place is outside Kamakura, but close to all major temples and two hiking trails - Daibutsu and Ten’en; very green and quiet with lots of small shops, bakeries and good restaurants. Also it’s only 3 min ride with the regional train from Kamakura Station. Fully recommended!

Hong KongIt will be even better if there are luggage storage / lockers available at the hotel.
Easy to find. There are a few hidden gems in this part of Kamakura, all are within walking distance to the station/hotel.

AustraliaHonestly, the only complaint is that you can hear the trains going past. Not surprising given it’s right next to the train line. If you’re a lighter sleeper, some earplugs would be a good option.
The accommodation was spotless, and a short walk from Kita-Kamakura station, so ideally situated for exploring Kamakura and surroundings. A comfy bed, and roomy shower were welcome after a long day of exploring. The staff were lovely, and despite my minimal Japanese, we managed to communicate well. Great stay!

CanadaThe property entered my room to clean up the space without notice; they took nothing though. Travellers need to prepare their own toothbrush and toothpaste as they do not provide such amenities. The crew seems unable to understand English so if you wanna make sure if you can check in/out by yourself, the answer is YES. This is an unmanned facility and customers can easily check in anytime after 3 pm, even after 6 pm. One only need to check in between 3 - 6 pm if you need assistance.
The room with the AC is nice.

Comfortable room, very clean. The garden in front of the house is very beautiful. No noise, so I had a good sleep there. Good location, 5 minutes walk to the kita-Kamakura station. Nice staff, although she speaks only Japanese, there’s no problem checking in. And she’s so kind that when she knew my credit card was lost she said she could lend me some cash.
