Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Belgium“Beachfront” and “seafront” are not the same — and this hotel proves it. Despite the description, there is no actual beach directly in front of the hotel. The nearest beach is about 2 km away, and honestly, it's nothing special. We chose not to rent a car because we expected to relax right on the beach, but ended up disappointed with the lack of one. Also, breakfast options were limited, especially for European tastes
Staff super friendly and helpful, the sea views, the sunsets, the BBQ dinners, swimming pool.

United StatesNegatives: I had booked a Mountain View and it was overlooking a muddy roof so not much ambiance, and they put me In the old wing which was clean but very outdated.
very clean property, amazing staff, great breakfast options (including vegetarian options). The communal bath was simple and clean ans nicely appointed. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler and location was central between town and club med/or northern diving on the island. Had an in room shiatsu massage which was decent (not the best ever but not bad). Lunch and dinner vegetarian options were limited and I do think you need a car if you stay there, not much around. Didn’t use the pool much because it rained most days I was there. Fairly good value if you want something clean and convenient with a very helpful staff

United KingdomThere were only 6 buses a day into town which was over an hour walk away. The local restaurants seem to close at 6pm leaving the hotel the only option with an expensive large set menu at night. We walked into town and eventually found some options as we wanted a small meal. We went to the hotel bar on our return at 9.30 to find it was closed. A shame as the hotel had given us vouchers for use there. Room lovely and spacious with great view.

United KingdomEverything felt difficult, it seemed like it was run like a 2-star hotel. A few examples: lunch was only available for two hours with one option, we rented bikes and both had flat tyres, we got a call at 22:30 about a trip that hadn’t been booked for us (by 17:00). You also can’t go in the sea at the front of the property because of the jellyfish (other resorts have nets).
Beautiful pool area and great bedroom (in the more modern complex).

JapanI didn’t notice while booking that this hotel has “sea view” but doesn’t have a beach. I think I’ve read “in front of the beach” so I booked without double checking. Another thing that could have been better was the restaurant, I think the menu was very limited
The breakfast was good and staff were kind and helpful . Also the bus stop is 1 min walking so it’s very convenient if you want to come and go through Ishigaki

ItalyThe hotel had a very relaxed vibe, the facilities were good with the outdoor pool and seating area, as well as use of inflatables, frisbies etc. The onsen was also very nice with a great sea view and was never very busy. Breakfast buffet was great and offered a very good variety. there was a shop to buy drinks and snacks. The only downside was the bar/resestaurant was very restricted in what it served, it would have been great to have a bar that was more useable by the pool. But apart from that the stay was very enjoyable and the staff very friendly.

United StatesThe breakfast. It was not worth the cost. We are all familiar with and enjoy Japanese/Asian food, however we did not find the items of high quality, nor were they very tasty. I also got a bit of a stomach discomfort after the breakfast, thus, we cancelled the following breakfast days. Also, the breakfast staff shut down at least 15 minutes earlier than the stated closing time. I saw several guests come in looking for food that was already being packed up-- And there are not many other options for food close by.
Wonderful, spacious room, friendly staff, nice pool with view. The grounds are beautiful and well-manicured. We really enjoyed our stay as a family.

United StatesThere wasn't anything that I didn't like
Beach Hotel Sunshine was what we expected--on the sea, nice pool, good communal baths, and large comfortable rooms. Some complained that there was no direct access to the beach--which isn't exactly true. There is a seawall, which given the nature of storms and such that part of the world, is a practical thing. However, there are steps down to the water and a small sandy beach. The grounds are nice and there is a deck to have dinner and watch the very nice sunset. Parking is easy (it is very good to have a rental car in Ishigaki--is quite spread out to get to various sites). The breakfast buffet is very good with lots of local specialties.

Hong KongThe restaurant/cafe only had ice cream and no other food in the day available but maybe because oug of season. You had to reserve for dinner too so needed to be organised and know what you were doing ahead. Nothing else wrong as it was a lovely place to stay. Thanks so much.
Our room was fabulous. The bath in the window overlooking the sea and sunset was amazing. The room was massive with his and her sinks and a fantastic view. The pool was great too with floats and the bar next to it. Beautifully kept gardens with flowers. It was right on the sea front which was ideal but very windy. Staff were so helpful and friendly and tried really hard to help translate things, book trips and taxis for us. We were able to higher bikes from reception and explore the town and markets about 15 mins cycle away.

JapanPerhaps it’s difficult to do for this kind of small hotel but since it’s located in the resort area (not in the city centre), it should better to have more options for dinner and lunch. Just only course menu is available for dinner. They sell some snacks and drinks at their shop but if they could serve some foods, even some simple snacks like fried potatoes, pizza, hotdog, edamame, onigiri and some drinks at the restaurant next to the pool, we could enjoy the time in the hotel even when the weather was not good. Driving 5-10 minutes to eat something outside all the time was not so good experience. We stayed in the Mountain View room. Since it’s located next to the main road, we heard the car sounds all the time.
Polite and professional staff, clean room, pool with some balloons, big bath with beautiful scenery, enough space for parking. I highly recommend to take a bath during sunset time. Overall, it’s value for money!

IrelandAlthough it’s facing the sea, it’s not a place you can swim. Quite an industrialised area having been built up with various hotels. Not much around here. Tattoos not allowed in the onsen which seems quite backward. Strange policy around having the room cleaned. Rewards are offered if you choose not to avail of cleaning but there are no recycling bins in the public areas to get rid of rubbish so the room needs to be tidied daily. Was a bit stressful having to choose which days we wanted cleaning right after arriving at check in. As always in Japan, less single use plastic would be great to see. Also I think this resort really misses a trick by not having the bar open throughout the day. It would be lovely to sit out on the decking in the evening if there was a bar and a bit of atmosphere. No vegetarian options in the restaurant either which had to be prebooked before arrival.
Rooms in the annex were very nice. Although there seemed to be some mould or dirt on the walls and ceiling. Nice big window looking out at the sea. Water refill station was a great option instead of plastic bottles.
