Lovely place to stay in a quiet spot. Beautiful beach just a short walk away and really enjoyed basing here to explore the Tango Peninsula. Kitchen/lounge was well equipped to self cater. Would stay again in the area!

Showers are in a separate building and there is no conditionner, but these are minor inconveniences.

Convenient location, very quiet, clean room, kitchen and shower rooms, owner friendly and easy to communicate, English speaking, and free parking.

It is an amazing place! The host is very nice and helpful. It is a really quiet place, with only a few houses in the village. I was alone and without a car and it was really easy for me to go to the beach, walk and go by bus to Amino. The beach is amazing, very large.

The shower was a bit small.

It was well located, everything was well thought out, Hamish was incredibly friendly and helpful. It was also a very peaceful and relaxing spot to spend a few days.

The shower is outside at the same building as the kitchen. My wife didn’t care for walking outside to bath and then walk back to our room.

I think every room option is quite different. Our’s had two large rooms upstairs. The bath was shared with one other room at the bottom of the stairs. The shared kitchen is simply fabulous, and was our favorite place to hang out. It’s a large building with modern appliances and dining table. The sliding back doors open onto a terrace with views to the Harbour. Free parking right there. Very very nice beach close by for summer visitors.

Nowhere else in this hospitable country did we feel as comfortable as in the great Asobi lodge. The two wonderful owners have equipped their holiday appartment so comfortably and with all the amenties that all stress fall away and you can immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings. The location is exceptional, a little hidden, very atmospheric in a former kimona factory. We loved the perfectly equipped kitchen, which, in addition to a wodden terrace, offers a wonderful view of the small fishing bay. Esprcially if you come from the bustling metropolis of Tokyo or Kyoto, you will find the ideal place here that you don't have to share with anyone because you can use everything exclusively.

The lodge was lovely inside. It is very obvious that a great deal of work has gone into the property and that it has been done with care and sensitivity .The owner has a good eye and the antiques are gorgeous .Hamish was the most hospitable host and extremely friendly.I would very highly recommend visiting there is so much to see and the areas around the coastline are lovely .The little walks are gems with shrines popping up when you least expect it .Do go ,it's the real Japan sweet and fresh ,lots of restaurants and plenty to do in the countryside .

Located in a small village, with view down to the ocean from the room and the kitchen area. 15 minutes coastal walk to the beach - Kotohikihama Beach. Said all this, it means: breathtaking ...!! A double tatami room with a lot of space is located upstairs. Downstairs you find a sink and toilet. Outside across the yard there are more toilets and showers and the kitchen, not shared. The kitchen has a lot of space and equipment for cooking - if you want. No restaurants and shops close-by. My favorite place was the small balcony outside in front of the kitchen. Here you get the breeze, the view and the stars at night. Would have loved to stay a few nights more... Very kind and helpful owners!

    Nothing; it was all great!

Hamish is super-friendly and very helpful with information about sightseeing, eating out etc. The apartment was sensitively restored with traditional materials and furniture, but also had all modern conveniences. Kyotango is a wonderfully peaceful and pretty corner of Japan where you can chill out at one of the many beaches, or enjoy the fantastic coastal scenery.

The lodge is situated right next to a forested area, so it’s practically inevitable that you will have a few bug encounters. We had no problems with it, but it’s something to be aware of if you are particularly insect-averse. (The same could be said of any similar lodging in any similar area of Japan). Not a complaint, but just a note - If you’re going to have a BBQ, you may want to buy your own “ami” (metal mesh that goes on top) from the nearby home & garden store, as the ones available were usable but a bit old. That said, it was great to have a bbq grill available at all, since it typically costs money at other lodging, and bringing your own takes up precious car trunk space. Don’t forget to get some cotton gloves (“gunte”) when you buy charcoal, as it will make grilling much easier.

The perfect quiet location to de-stress. The building was originally a kimono factory and has been very tastefully renovated. Very clean, and very comfortable. Peaceful walks along the shoreline are a great way to start each morning. We loved the large, well-equipped kitchen/dining area which naturally became our central hang-out area. We had a blast cooking for every single meal (even though we had originally intended to eat out some). The owner is extremely helpful and friendly, and we greatly enjoyed having chats with him about the lodge, the area, and life in general. Petting the very gentle-tempered goats was also a therapeutic “zen” experience. We had planned to drive around the Tango peninsula using Asobi Lodge as a base, but the local area was so peaceful we ended up just hanging around and enjoying the vibe. Going to the nearby beach and checking out sea critters in the rock pools was great fun, and easily takes up more time than you would expect. I’m looking forward to a chance to go back.

Amazing location and a wonderful modern take on a traditional Japanese residence. Clean, comfortable beds, and plenty of space to eat and relax in the living areas. The 10-minute walk to the singing sands of the local beach was fantastic and there were so few people, it felt like our own private beach! Nora was kind, helpful and on site to answer any questions we had! Thank you for a great stay!
