Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Arab EmiratesThe facility is very old and probably needs a renovation. For example the A/C in the room was a very old model with mechanical switches. I think versus the beautiful hot spring and dining experience at the hotel, the run down facilities is what holds us back from marking it a perfect stay.
We stayed the last 2 days of our 16 day Japan tour in Arima Onsen, to relax. And it was perfect for relaxing. Very good hot spring option (Public and private), beautiful Ryokan style rooms. Good service. But, most importantly, we stayed with breakfast and dinner included. A very good choice; as the open buffet was excellent. The variety, the quality, the abundance (sashimi, steak, noodles, fish, desserts ... everything).

United StatesThe view from the bridge is mazing. really liked the location, and the onsen choices. Also the shuttle pick-up and drop-off was helpful. You can call the hotel from a payphone at the train station.

Really helpful and friendly staff. Peaceful location and the surroundings are beautiful. Nice spa areas with three hot spring baths.

SingaporeWe booked for 2 Adt + 1 Tod and was provided with only 2 tatami beds. When we asked for additional tatami for our boy, we were told that kids stay for free but if additional tatami needed, we have to pay for it. We had stayed in some ryokans where they kept extra sets of tatami in the room for guests to use without additional charge so this was abit of a bummer. Also, the walls seems to be pretty thin coz we could hear our rowdy neighbours till past midnight.
We booked the ryokan so our toddler can experience his 1st onsen & ryokan stay. We spotted some shops and eateries while driving to the property but didn't manage to explore the area as we were there only for a night. Free praking available at the property. The room is in a good size. Breakfast and dinner spreads were good, lots of varieties. A little lacking in taste for some of the food but still acceptable. Overall we quite enjoy our stay and our boy had fun doing onsen.

FinlandWe had a wonderful and relaxing time there. The surroundings were beautiful and serene and onsen baths (3 to choose from) were good. Food was fantastic. Staff were helpful and friendly. I would recommend staying for 2 nights to fully enjoy the place. There’s a certain old charm about the place but some areas could do with a little updating.

SingaporeArriving at Arima Bus Terminal, we were instructed to call the hotel to pick us up. However, neither of our phones were able to connect to the landline, and we were not able to contact the hotel. After a 30 mins wait, we luckily found the shuttle and managed to grab it. If you are going to receive more foreigners in the future, you should use Whatsapp or Line to let people with just data plan contact you. Although I booked a room for 2 kids and 2 adults, only two futons were prepared in the room. When we added a third one, we were asked to pay a surcharge. Unsure if there was confusion on the Booking.com reservation, but it didn't leave a good taste. Building is quite old, some areas are definitely a bit dirty/worn out. Not necessarily a minus for me, but it might be for others looking for a more "modern" experience.
A very traditional onsen inside Arima Onsen. Absolutely recommend if you are looking for a traditional, more "mute" experience. Staff was extremely kind and helpful. Buffet food was very tasty. There are three different onsens located around the facility, with the capacity to book a short session in a private bath. I also forgot some of my personal belongings, and after calling the hotel, they kindly packaged it and send it through express mail to my location. Deepest thanks for this!

SingaporeThe buffet breakfast and dinner were disappointing. I have had far better in other accommodations in Japan. The pictures online are angled and shows the best parts of the hotel and the best lighting. Other hotels naturally do this as well, it is just that the reality here is significantly different. The building is not kept well, could use floor repairs and a fresh coat of paint. You can call the hotel for pick up but this was not stated online.
It is a decent hotel. The bridge and lanterns along the river were pretty, but only at certain angles. Good to post pictures online, not so good as a luxurious/peaceful experience expected of a hotel in an onsen town. The staff are approachable. It is two hotels linked by a corridor, makes it somewhat like a fun maze to explore.

SingaporeQuite a bit of steps in the property; so it would not be easy handling big luggages and the elderly. We found a centipede by the tv on the second night; not great since we were sleeping on the tatami.

ItalyUnfortunately it was only one night, but it was an immensely appreciated stay. The peace, the tranquility, the silent environment, the wonderful gardens, sleeping on the tatami, the herbal tea taken on the veranda overlooking the garden, the dinner wearing the yukata: I hope to be able to return and enjoy a longer holiday. The dinner and breakfast are buffet style, with a wide choice of Japanese dishes, which I really appreciated; there was also a good choice of dishes for those who don't like their cuisine. The staff were helpful and extremely kind.

RussiaOverpriced. Too much expensive for us. There was not shower in private bathroom. Expensive meals. After 18:00 city became dead, everything closing.
Very nice hotel in Japanese style, location near train station, 4 public hot onsens at the territory of this hotel. And you can book few private for you company if you want. Meals were extremely expensive, so we didn't took them. Nice and soothing experience with a calm good sleep after hot springs.

United KingdomThe rooms in the ryokan - particularly the bathrooms and toilets in the rooms - are aged and could do with an update. The buffet food, while abundant, was qualitatively for us only slightly above average.
The three onsens at the property were really nice, particularly the original outdoor onsen. Good location with fantastic views over the river. Nice and friendly staff.
