Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt's expensive but it's an entire experience. Everything is exceptional. Make sure to get an uneven numbered room with the front view over the mountains. It's stunning!

United KingdomThe dinner included in the package was the hot pot (we had a better version at a ryokan in Kyoto). We would have preferred the choice of a buffet or a la carte, but this is not possible if using Booking.com. This is a hotel for locals, we’ve seen very few foreigners which explains why shopping is not Tax free, etc. Finally, we wanted Japanese massage (it cannot be with oil, not disclosed to us at booking), it was in the room done by some fairly old and frail ladies. So it’s purely relaxation, but expensive for what it is at JpY 7,500/pers
Great onsen facilities, feel pampered. Fabulous breakfast. Nicely decorated room and posh common spaces. Hotel is on top of a hill commanding beautiful views of the valley.

Amazing hotel. Not a cheap one, but it is definitelly worth the money. We definitelly recommend to take a room with a view, seeing mountains in the morning was wonderful. We didn't have a ryokan-type room but were still amazed by the quiality of everything - cleanliness, design, etc. Our room had a capsule coffee machine, a set for drinking tea, hair brushes, hair pins and other small things that added a pinch of comfort to our stay. The hotel also provides guests with Japanese-style clothing: a set of a "shirt" and pants, and a yukata. You can walk in it everywhere in the hotel which was very nice. The hotel has public onsens on two floors, both have open-air baths. The staff is very understanding and would help with the rules of visiting. You can also book private onsens that turned out to be not very expensive. Sometimes the hotel holds special events. We managed to visit stargazing and saw Jupiter through a telescope while eating sweet potatos! The hotel provides a bus that regularly travels through the Arima village. You can also call the hotel to pick you up. The village itself is very beautiful. There is a ropeway to the nearby mountain. I heard you can also hike to the summit.

ThailandPrice is quite high. Breakfast time from 6.30 to 9.30 am is quite short so during 8.30 to 9.00 am are very crowded.
The facilities are very perfect. Ie. shuttle bus from/to hotel to train station and ropeway, varieties of gold and silver onsens in one place are stunning we didn’t have to go other onsens to try both of them. Dinner and breakfast are excellence. Staffs at front and dining room are very professional and great service mind.

United StatesThe entire property felt like a luxury resort. The staff was very kind and helpful even though we do not speak Japanese. They were able to accommodate us either with English speaking staff or using a translator app. The room was beautiful and the in-room snacks and drinks were delicious (oishii)! The Onsen, breakfast, and dinner options were also perfect. They even provide a shuttle to & from the train station every 20 minutes. It was a very relaxing stay from start to finish and I hope to stay here again in the future.

CanadaInitially email communication was misleading , you actually don’t need to request for shuttle fr the San Bandai bus from Osaka. The airport shuttle stops n pickup from there. We stayed 2 nights, no need to book private, the 9Fand B2 baths were great, the interactive Kaiseri dinners were excellent, the breakfast was so good, we skipped lunch both days. Spouse making plans to go back next year. We requested the Japanese style rooms and enjoyed it despite tough getting up fr the floor due to my titanium knees

United KingdomI wasn't told in advance that the outside pool would be closed for all of my stay, even though I asked in advance, and was told it would be open for some of my stay. It was okay though because it seemed to be a pool that is more suited to children, and I used the aqua terrace which is an inside spa with various saunas, jacuzzis, and an outside swimming pool. I liked that they had a lot of options for onsen, pool etc. there was a lot of people staying at this hotel but it never felt crowded.
There was a lot of breakfast options, western and asian so everyone will be happy. The staff were very nice and were patient with my broken Japanese, some do speak basic English too. Staff take your luggage directly to your room once you arrive, which was a nice added bonus you don't get at all hotels. The location is beautiful but accessibility wise just okay, the hotel is on a hill, if you want to explore the area that may be a problem. The options for onsen are extensive, including private ones, and very easy to book and the staff in the spa area are very nice.
