Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOddly the tub in the bathroom had a lip on it that if you happen to spray water on, it would send the water onto the bathroom floor in a puddle. Which made a mess and I always had to make sure to not turn the shower head in that direction to avoid spilling water on the floor. My friend staying in another room also noticed the same thing happened to him in his bathroom.
Room was decent for a single person at the price charged per night.

United KingdomPillows - but this is more as I'm used to big fluffy pillows and being propped up than anything being at fault with them.
Room was very clean, be was bigger than I expected. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It's a short walk to the main Shinjuku station whilst also being "out" enough to not be kept up with the nightlife of Kabukicho

United KingdomGreat location. Close to the metro. Coffee shop across the street. Staff were extremely helpful. On the quieter side of Shinjuku which was great. Sadly the pillows were incredibly uncomfortable. Other than that, it was great!

United StatesOnly 1 elevator for a pretty large building and unable to use stairs as they are emergency only.
Clean and good location. Very close to the metro entrance if you want to travel to a different part of town as well.

United KingdomI’ve stayed in several Apa hotels. This one wasn’t the best. This hotel had just the bare necessities to get by however, the selection of amenities in the room was a good variety. Breakfast in this specific hotel was appalling. From previous experience, there has been a large selection to choose from but they didn’t even have bread or water here. Even after getting there earlier the second morning, i was still disappointed to see that the hot food (chicken nuggets and sausages) were still cold.

AustraliaWith only one elevator sometimes the wait times are long. The location was really good, 50m from a metro station, within easy walking distance of Golden Gai and Shinjuku night-life.

PortugalThe size of the room was absurdly small for two persons. Even for one person it would be small but for two, it was untenable. There was no space to set a cabin bag and to leave the bed, one person needs to climb over the other person as, lengthwise, the bed goes wall to wall.

SwitzerlandThere is absolutely NOTHING I didn't like about it. And I will book my next stay in March in one of your hotels for sure. Thank you!
All of your hotels are located amazingly: Always nearby of a subway station & most important facilities. I'm very happy about that as well as the constant cleanliness I encounter at every stay. Thank you for that!

AustraliaNo ONSEN The rooms are small. Can only fit 2 people and it’s quite small for 2. Most Japanese hotels are small. The heater of the room was so hot. We had to open the window to get cold air in (Winter). We eventually turned off the heater.
We like that we could open the window for fresh air. This hotel is very close to Korean Town. Very close to Korean street food stores. The Higashi Shinjuku station is extremely close 3 minutes walk. Close to Sekaido (Stationary store) 15mins walk

United StatesYou can’t control the thermostat. It was set to heat in the winter which is fine. But it only seems to have one setting which is to slowing roast you. We had to turn it off and open a window.
It was very clean and well maintained. There is security as in you can not access the hotel floors without a key card. They have two washer and dryers. And the location was next to a train station with lots of restaurants and a 7-11.

CanadaI had a 6 nights stay then left for 1 night and then came back again for another 3 nights. I was hoping the hotel would be able to help me keep the luggage there locked up instead of having me carry around a few large suitcases across to another area of Japan. It wasn’t the hotel’s fault but would’ve been a nice gesture.
Location was convenient. Hotel has all basic necessities including restaurants close by.

United StatesThe ambulance goes off in the middle of the night at least twice per night. The sound is very loud. Next door to a hospital, had I known I would have looked elsewhere.
The location was good, beds comfy, shower head amazing, convenient to good food and train, quiet except for the ambulance.

United KingdomNothing to dislike.
I wanted to stay in the centre of the Shinjuku area, and this hotel was the right choice. It was closed to a couple or 3 tube stations. There were shopping and restaurants all around. The room was average small like most rooms in Japan. It was comfortable, clean, and warm. The reception people were nice too. There is a restaurant in the basement of the building.

I found it to be a convenient and cozy option. While the room was small, normal to Japan standard with the city proper, it was well-organized and the bed was comfortable, ensuring a good night's rest. With daily provision of towels hanging on the doorknob. The hotel’s location near the subway station made it very accessible and easy to explore the area. Overall, it’s a great choice for travelers seeking comfort and convenience in a compact space.
