Location was great and the staff were awesome very helpful.

The Onsen was a little dirty the water needed in the hotspring wasn't clean. Other than in the Onsen there was no where to wash.

The food was excellent. We stayed for 4 nights, which means 4 breakfasts and 4 dinners. The food did not repeat, which is amazing. We can tell the master has put in a lot of thought into the dining experience, and we really appreciated. Simple, authentic Akita food, with beautiful presentation and well thought food ordering. We can not ask for more. It is worth coming back just for the food. Also, the hotel is very close to and offers shuttle to and back from the ski slopes. The room was clean and comfy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

The hotel is off on Wednesday, which means you can not check your luggage there after check-out. People need rest and we have to respect. Just a reminder for your planning.

I recommend this place with all my heart! I stayed here for 4 nights, and if it wasn't for work, I would have extended for more. The proximity to the slopes is amazing. The staff has been lovely and supporting with any kind of ask or help needed, and the food was out of this world delicious. There is an incredible selection of drinks and a la carte menu as well. You get by bus or taxi from the station, the bus maybe is less frequent than some guests would like but as long as you're aware of the times, you can work your way around it. There are onsen options on the premise, next door and across the street, and loads of activities to do around.

The room was very comfy, as shown in the photographs. The dinner and breakfast were excellent - some of the best food we had in Japan. The private onsen was great, beautiful outlook onto the snow, water not too hot. Staff very friendly and accommodating to our very poor Japanese - google translate worked well for us all!

Aoni Sanso is a beautiful Ryokan accommodation nestled in the mountains and in among nature and beech trees and in winter when everything is white, it is even more beautiful. The property was extremely comfortable. The room was lovely and cosy, everything was well provided for, the facilities were extremely clean, the little dining area and the onsen was just perfect. I especially loved the woody feel of the entire accommodation. Anoi Sanso exceeded our expectations.

    Nothing. It was just perfect!

It had a private onsen (needs to book with front desk and cost a 150 yen onsen tax) which is quite rare for hotel with this price range. The service and food was also great

Really nice family run onsen. A good place to go if you want to experience the whole tradition of it. We got a superior double room, which was massive and very comfortable. We also booked dinner both nights we were there. Both dinner and breakfast consisted of many courses - all very nicely done and food we probably wouldn’t have come across otherwise. There’s quite a lot of it! So make sure you leave space. The onsen itself was clean and pleasant with a nice outdoors bit (separate sexes throughout) A really pleasant experience.

Really minor things. The duvet covers were some sort of shiny material with a small sheet behind them when just cotton would have been much better. Also - although I fully appreciate this isn’t traditional - as someone who finds it difficult to function without some sort of morning caffeine fix, the option of either black tea or coffee would have been great with breakfast. But as I say - these are very minor things. We really enjoyed our stay.

The room was clean and spacious. The hospitality was superb. The meals were delicious and beautiful. Above all, the onsen was exceptional—the temperature, the cleanliness of the bathroom, and the type of water—everything was great!

Unfortunately, one of the outside onsens was closed due to construction. The private onsen closed at 8:00 am. I wish it would be open until check-out time. It would be nicer if the welcome drink had more variety and room for drinking them.
