How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewThe breakfast can be a little too crowded. The staff was unclear which table to direct us to and finally when they got us the table, they forget to set up the table for us. They charged for everything including the use of the pool.

The room was dingy and run down and smelled faintly of smoke and heavily of deodorizer. There is no way this is a 4 star hotel!

Rooms were a bit dated. This hotel would’ve been peak back in the 80s. The lobby was lovely, but rooms could use a little care.

Verified reviewI liked how near it was to the trains/subways as well as the Herb garden. It was quite literally attached to it.
It was very dated, there was a slight musty smell from inside and outside the rooms. The carpets throughout our floor was consistently stained, and the walls of our actual room were quite battered as well.

Verified reviewExceptional service, friendly staff, clean and shiny lobby. Decently comfortable bed, nice views (we had the 25th floor). Wifi worked great after the sign-in. Room and bathroom spacious by Japanese standards.
For good or for worse, it's a classic Western style hotel. You can feel the building's age in various details and general worn-downness. The location isn't great, unless you're just passing through on a line that goes through Shin-Kobe - or if you're just visiting the herb gardens, which are just outside the hotel. The mostly abandoned shopping mall under the hotel was spectacularly haunted and backrooms-esque (which may or may not be a pro or con, but don't expect a shopping spree without taking the subway to Sannomiya).

Verified reviewAll staff was impeccable, so courteous Special mention to Tan, who went way beyond the call of duty and even stopped to gently and unobtrusively offer to help us in the supermarket downstairs when he was off duty but saw that we were trying to decipher the ingredients on a package. Also Na'o, hope I'm spelling her name correctly, went out of her way to assist us Location - terrific , elevator up from the train station View from room - terrific We enjoyed the pianist in the lobby Will recommend to all our friends in Israel to stay there, thank you for meeting our Sabbath needs with respect and sensitivity.
