Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PolandVery loud as we entered the hotel. Tried the coffee in the cafe once, americano just wasn't good at all, nor was the coffee during our breakfast. Maybe a bit too hippy of a place for me; vegan; bio, recyclable, etc, but coming to Japan's heritage, the oldest city I kinda wished I stayed in a place that had a connection to the history instead of a modern hotel which we got a lot of in europe - vibe close to the W hotels for people who had been.
Record player in the room with funky new music to listen to. Guitar in the room - first time ever in my long history of travels :) Location is prime - walking distance to all of the Kyotos central places as well as a metro station 1min from the hotel. Egg benedict for breakfast was best ove had in years.

United KingdomAll staff were exceptional friendly and helpful. The hotel is superbly located to access all attractions near lots of restaurants. Plus the hotel have 3 nice restaurants if you are tired at the end of the day. We were also lucky to have the use of e-bikes for the day which was fantastic. But there are not that many so if you want to use them I suggest you start your day quite early as it is first come first serve first served.

United Arab EmiratesNothing to complain about!
The location was great, very conveniently located with a lot of great restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops nearby. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Also plenty of restaurants available in the hotel itself; the coffee Roastery downstairs is a nice touch too. The hotel also has a lot of convenient amenities, such as an ATM, a currency exchange, free bicycle rental, and smart TVs which can be linked to your Netflix, Amazon etc. Definitely recommended if you want to stay somewhere where you can relax and unwind in between exploring Kyoto. Would definitely book again if I’m back in Kyoto.

United Arab EmiratesBreakfast for kids not included even if you booked the room for 3 people. They give a kids plate only but charge any other item, also at breakfast the staff were not properly coordinated mixing items or forgetting the coffee. On high season you could see they were struggling
The vibe, location and metro station inside the building. A lot of trendy coffee shops and venues as well. Is in a quite yet super center street and the facilities are amazing. The music items on the room were a lovely detail as well

AustraliaThey only give you one complimentary 1L water in your room each day but if you call up you can get another one free of charge. I think they should just put both in each time they clean.
The Ace Hotel was really cool to stay at. It’s like a new age hotel which we like because we’re young. Cool restaurants attached to the hotel as well as bars and a really good cafe with really good coffee. Really well located could walk to lots of places and if not it’s located on top of a subway station to make getting around really easy. We came from Osaka on the train and hopped in a cab when arriving at Kyoto main station and it took about 15 mins to get to hotel. Definitely worth getting cab with luggage. We got there early in the day, they have a strict 3pm check in time but could mind the bags while we went out and explored. We asked them to assist booking a restaurant nearby which they did no problem.
