How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location and price was good.
Beds are as hard as floorboards I was woken up at 2am by a staff member changing the plastic liners in the bins. Why can’t this be during the day! It was a bit stuffy in the capsule due to low air flow. The place could do with serious renovation
Thank you very much for using our hotel. We are truly sorry for waking you up in the middle of the night with the sound of the trash being collected. It seems that the trash collection time was decided at this time for various reasons, but We would like to discuss it again. We will improve any other shortcomings, so please come visit us again when you visit Tokyo!

Verified reviewExcellent value for money for the price you paid if you just need somewhere to rest after a day exploring Tokyo. The staff are corteus and nice. One thing which I didn’t like is you have to pay for basic things like body soap, shampoo and conditioner which they supposed to provide but it’s okay, I guess it’s because of the cost of running a business and to make their prices competitive. Thanks for the experuence and will definitely stay again in the near future when I visit Tokyo again.
Pay for basic things. No refrigerator. The mattress is so thin which gave me lower back pain and pillows are low and provided only. Overall it’s okay and close to Tokyo Metro Subway(Iriya Station)
Thank you very much for staying at our hotel. Our shower rooms are not equipped with amenities such as shampoo, so please bring your own or purchase them at the front desk. ( Ex. Shampoo 50 yen, body soap 30 yen) Face towels and toothbrushes are available free of charge. We appreciate your thoughtful comments. We look forward to welcoming you again.

Verified reviewI liked the location of the property. It was less than 20 minutes from the nearest JR station and just over 10 minutes from the nearest metro station too. I liked that I was provided a private locker space with key to store my belongings. Being given fresh hand towels everyday was also appreciated.
The hotel had a no shoes policy so every time I entered or left I would need to use and then discard cheap room slippers. It was a small thing but it was an additional step that sometimes felt a little inconvenient. I had one issue with a provided pillowcase that was dirty(it look like dried blood perhaps?). It got changed promptly however.
Thank you very much for staying our hotel. The nearest station to our hotel is Iriya Station on the Hibiya Subway Line, and it takes about a 5-minute walk from Exit 4. For JR Line, Uguisudani Station is the closest and it takes about a 15-minute walk away. Toothbrushes and face towels are provided free of charge. Shampoo and conditioner (50 yen), body soap (30 yen), are sold at the ticket machine at the front desk, so please feel free to use them. We also sincerely apologize for providing a dirty pillowcase. We will take every precaution to prevent such things from happening again. We look forward to seeing you again.

Verified reviewThe staff was very kind and helpful, plus the cost was wonderfully affordable! The number of amenities was good, too. It had almost everything you could want~ The showers for the female dorm were always available and the water was piping hot! They even had a full size fridge in the room for all of us to share! The storage lockers were probably the best part, along with the amount of privacy; despite there being so many women in the same room. The common room was spacious, albeit a bit stuffy and hot. I liked the setup!
Central city noise made it impossible to sleep without ear plugs and there weren't any kitchen facilities... Lights were also on until almost 2am some nights... but that's more of a personal problem, since I'm hypersensitive to noise and lighting. Other than those small things, I had a really nice stay. Although, it was a bit of walk to get to any of the sights, which is fine in cooler months but hard on the body in the summer.
Thank you very much for using our hotel. We truly appreciate your kind comment. Please come again when you visit Tokyo!

Verified reviewFriendly bilingual staff, clean beds and capsules, much space for stuff in locked areas
the mattress was slightly too hard for my liking, but it was not a big problem.

Verified reviewClean Close to bus/subway stations Lots of restaurants nearby Good enough for the fee you pay
A bit noisy at sleeping time by other guests entering/getting out of the corridor and checking their luggage rooms
Thank you very much for using our hotel this time. We sincerely appreciate your warm comments. We apologize for the noise that other guests made during your bedtime. Please don't let this put you off and come again!

Verified reviewLocation is very close to Ueno and Akihabara station so easy to access the shinkansen. Very quiet as it was mainly all Japanese clientele during my stay. Showers get hot quickly and there’s a rooftop area you can view the surrounding area.
Can sometimes get a little chilly at night even with the provided blankets but that’s not bad
Thank you very much for staying our hotel. We really appreciate your review. Our hotel is located about 5minute walk from Metro Iriya station exit 4. It is one stop from Iriya Station to Ueno and three stops to Akihabara Station. Please come back again when you come to Tokyo next time. We look forward to seeing you again!

Verified reviewVery near Ueno museums. Seems mostly Japanese locals staying there, plus a few tourists. Large common room for eating/working. No kitchen; just microwave and water boiler. Large luggage lockers away from the beds helps limit noise at night.
The many unnecessary rules and strict, convoluted processes do give things a bit of a prison vibe. There's AC but it's still a little hot at night. Mattress is paper-thin; my back started hurting after the second night. Elevator system is very very very frustrating. Staircases cannot be used, so just one elevator - the only way to move throughout the building. So every time you want to move up/down just one floor, you often must wait several minutes.
Thank you very much for staying our hotel. We have a common room with microwave oven and kettle on the third floor. We are sorry to made you frustrated about our elevator. We only have one elevator, so you might have to wait for a while when it's busy. We hope to see you again. Thank you.

Verified reviewNothing
Hated everything. The bathroom was never clean, the floor I was staying on had mold everywhere on the ceiling, my bed was dirty with my capsule being dirty too and when I complained about it, the only answer I got is they are fully booked and can't do anything. The shower had no air conditioning or anything to ventilate it, so showering was basically useless, because you got all sweaty again because of the humidity, even if showering with cold water. The bed is basically just rock on an elevated platform. Within the 5 days I stayed, there was no real cleaning, a worker just came by to take the sheets and that was it, but no actual cleaning. The place even had rats running in and out of the building where the stairs were, because the trash was just kept there without care. Women for some reason get a towel and face towel but men have to pay a rental fee for the towels. Aka discrimination. If you give one of the sex something, then you give it to the other one as well or else you call it discrimination. The so-called "locker" sure, had a lock, but that defeats the purpose if it doesn't have a roof to actually protect your stuff. Others could just easily climb in and steal all your stuff without having to worry. Can only upload 4 images, but the hotel is way worse.
We are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations.

The entrances of each floor may carry cigarette smell since the smoking area is on the external stairwell

Verified reviewAbundant storage space, relatively clean and well maintained, amiable staff, has a sense of space and privacy unlike many typical capsule hotels squeezing everyone in one on top of another and next to a large row of capsules.
Nothing. I have stayed here before, and I was unlucky to be next to some person who snored loudly all night.
Thank you very much for staying at our hotel. We look forward to welcoming you again.
