    Wonderful Wirnica!

    Nothing.

Wirnica is a beautifully located traditional Italian villa steeped in history. We had a short, but beautiful stay, and loved using the swimming pool and facilities during our stay. Wirnica was the third stay on our honeymoon and Barbara was incredibly hospitable, making our honeymoon extra special.

The town of Garlate is quite small, and there aren’t many places for dinner within walking distance. Ask the manor hosts for dinner recommendations — they give great advice.

It was a wonderful experience staying at this manor 😍 The atmosphere was incredible, and the surroundings were beautifully maintained. Although the manor is old, it is very clean and well-kept. The exceptional hospitality of the hosts made the stay perfect 👌

Our room was close to the main road and it was a bit noisy at night.

We came mid June and it was very hot/ humid that weekend. Although the rooms are dark and kept mildly comfortable with the fans we would’ve liked to see portable air conditioning units.

The property is spectacular. It is gorgeous. The staff was incredibly wonderful. Barbara and her team go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The cooking class on the property was FANTASTIC. Great for even our 3.5yo! We liked staying away from the big crowds too but still an easy 30 min drive to most places.

Not many really decent restaurants within walking distance. There is one very near which was fantastic though. Fine for us as only a weekend break but if you were staying longer you'd need to drive, or pay for taxis which aren't cheap

Fabulous hotel and lovely and attentive staff, this is a little piece of history so a really unique and lovely treat to stay here. The room was comfy and had everything we needed, beautiful views of the lake and gardens. Breakfast is a lovely selection of local fare. Barabara and co. are superb hosts and will recommend and arrange dinner and local activities and give you the full information on the history of the property. We had a really lovely weekend so thank you Wirnica!

    All was perfect.

Wirnica is an experience. The whole stay was a magnificent and true experience. We have visited many countries with my wife, many places, many hotels, resorts, properties etc. This is definitely on our top 10 list ever. The staff were all great people and extremely accommodating, from Massimo to Guia and the lovely ladies providing our kid with toys, they were all fantastic. This is essentially a manor dating back hundreds of years with its beauty still intact. The gardens are massive and magnificent, a feast for the eyes. If you are using a car then the place is a hidden gem and just a short drive from the main villages that attract massive crowds, so perfect to avoid all that. All in all this was an unforgettable experience and we loved every second of it. We truly plan to visit again in the near future. A big thank you Wirnica team, Guia and Massimo!

Wonderfully warm welcome in this ancient Tuscan home.

Having read other reviews of Wirnica, I do understand that some people found the room we stayed in dark. It is dark but it is old and authentic, so we were expecting it to be quirky. I guess we went with that expectation and therefore had no issues with the low natural light levels. We also found the bathroom arrangements to be no problem either. It is literally just outside the bedroom door, so no great distance to walk. There was some noise from the street as there is a little car park just outside but nothing we found to be problematic.

Wirnica is a unique and very special place. We felt extremely lucky to stay in Guia's ancestral home, where the paintings on the wall have a direct connection to the host and the fabric of this ancient building has been lovingly conserved. Guia and Tommy made us feel so welcome, being on hand to help with enquiries, recommending where to eat and making us feel so much at home. All members of the Wirnica Team we met were lovely (especially Ollie the dog!). The grounds are superb, with fabulous views day and night and the added bonus of the pool to lounge by if all you are looking for is some downtime. If you are looking to make Wirnica a base to explore the more popular Lake Como sights then a car is needed. However, if walking is your preferred mode of transport, then there are plenty of fabulous walks to be had. We were on foot and had a wonderful time. We followed the footpath around the lake and up to the charming town of Lecco where we took a speedboat trip around the lake and experienced the fabulous Sunday Market. It was a joy to return to our 'home away from home' every evening - to our large room and exceptionally comfy bed. The breakfast was fresh, delicious and plentiful and with a choice of indoor or al fresco dining it was the perfect way to start each day. We have come away with very special memories of our stay at Wirnica. It's a B&B with a massive difference. The building is unique and the people exceptional. Thank you Guia and Tommy for making us so welcome at Wirnica.
