Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyWe drove to the property but found no parking—street spots were full . We parked between cars, but by morning ours was the only one left and had a parking ticket. Although the host was very friendly, we didn’t realise when we booked that the bathroom is shared with the host , as they live in the other room of the same apartment.
The place was super clean and tidy, the host was really friendly, and it was in a great spot—easy to find too

IndiaMy Personal Experience: As a first-time traveler to Genoa, I encountered an unsettling experience upon arrival. Reaching the city at 2:20 am, I found navigating the area challenging. The taxi driver refused to enter Via Silvio Bellotti, dropping me at the entrance instead of my destination. Unfortunately, my attempts to contact the house owner went unanswered. As a foreigner from India with no knowledge of Italian, I felt vulnerable and frightened. Lesson Learned: If you're new to Genoa and don't speak Italian, avoid arriving at night. Ensure you have necessary information and support before traveling. As an international traveler from India, I felt scared and disoriented. From Fright to Delight: My arrival at the guest house in Genoa was met with unexpected challenges, leaving me feeling scared and uncertain. However, the next morning brought a welcome change. The lady managing the guest house turned out to be incredibly helpful and supportive throughout my 7-day stay. Her kindness and assistance greatly alleviated my initial concerns, making my time in Genoa truly enjoyable. Her exceptional hospitality demonstrated the warmth and generosity of the Italian spirit, leaving a lasting impression on my trip.
Although breakfast is not provided by house owner, I appreciate their kindness and willingness to help whenever I need anything. They have consistently shown a supportive attitude, and I'm grateful for their hospitality

GermanyYou need to climb many stairs until you're at the flat - but that's normal for Genua ;)
Eduardo is a very kind host who will try to make you feel comfortable at any time. The room was very nice with all equipment needed. The bathroom is shared with the host and is super modern and clean. I enjoyed my stay a lot and even got to hang out with Edu and his friend in the city!

Czech RepublicIt all started with the checkin system. My host provided a link to a site where I had to go through a simple procedure. After the standard questionnaires, the system asked me to pay city tax plus a commission. The fact that this commission was not mentioned anywhere in advance was the first thing, it was small and the host deducted it. The problem was that the city tax I had to pay was calculated incorrectly. For some reason I had to pay twice as much. Host said he couldn't do anything about it and would give me a cash refund. I paid double tax, I still don't understand why. The apartment is very inconveniently located. The neighborhood is full of cars. Pedestrian accessibility is practically nil. It was very uncomfortable to get to the apartment. Finally, the neighbors. I don't know if they had rented a room under the same conditions as me or something else, but the level of discomfort was high, also due to the layout of the apartment itself. I should rightly point out that the apartment is not badly furnished with new things. However, the apartment is not comfortable, cozy or functional. The closet in the room I lived in was full of someone else's clothes. The question is why? The kitchen was dirty when I moved in.
All I liked about this offer was the price. But it was with the seasonal discount and my account discount. If I had paid the regular price for this I would have been extremely disappointed.

KazakhstanThe house itself is built on a steep slope and in the way that you hear everything that your neighbours do - non only from the flats up and down, but from the whole yard. Living with an owner is probably a thing that not everyone would be happy with.
In this house, you live in a room that the family also uses sometimes. So, it's designed for living, not for taking money from guests: large space, large bed, working space, evrything new and works well. The kitchen and the bathroom are amazing, again, all the stuff you need, new and cleen. I lived with a nice lady, owner's mother, and had a chance to practice my Italian. Definitely worth it - the price is not much more then of a hostel, but the comfort is far beyond.

SwitzerlandThe communication is terrible. I never received any information about the check-in. I haven't received any information and the provider didn't pick up my phone when I needed access. Fortunately, he called me back after a while. I had luck that I didn't arrive late in the evening. Furthermore, it should also be mentioned in the mail that an A/C is provided. Thanks to the reviews, I found that out. The location is hidden and a little bit outside. But with the bus, the center is reached within 20 minutes.
The room was great and very clean. Many things were provided (TV, free WiFi), A/C. The Check-in webpage also gives some useful information about Genova.
